----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was difficult at the best of times and then Barthandelus turned up.
It felt like being attacked by a couple of random guys on the street and then Brock Lesnar turns up
7 .... was the game that opened my eyes to proper games. Greatest story for me there has been, was just on the eve of the wiki taking over RPG's and ruining them. Was the last game that I played that everything that you didnt find out in the game was done on the playground at school.
It breaks my heart the way they are remaking 7, ie it will be the same as 15. And i got very tired of the combat in 15 after a few hours.
In total I have replayed 7 about 6 times

Yea I know what you mean with 15, I think it was an improvement on 13 but I feel like the games have been gradually going downhill since 11 or 12.
For me 10 was the last really great one and 12 was a bit weird but enjoyable.
I went from really wanting a remake of 7 to then thinking actually no leave it as it is and please just make a better FF.. now I can't help but feel whatever they do it wont meet expectations..
I just hope I'm wrong
7 my favourite followed closely by 8
15 was a weird one, started off really well with a nice open world to explore. Then halfway through it got really linear with clearly a few cuts being made to get the game finished. The train journey being the prime example. There was a huge area on the train journey just begging to be explored but you didnt even get to get off the train

Yea things like that in 15! I feel like squarenix have lost their touch a bit and gone down their own road which I suppose is fine.
But it would be nice if they could really try and listen to the right people regarding the FF7 remake.
Also.. why haven't they released 8 on the ios or playstore or on PS4 It can't be that hard, the FF7 ios and PS4 port is just a copy from steam!?

I will get the remake, I will love the nostalgia, love seeing the settings recreated. Then moan at them ruining the story, the combat and the characters basically everything that made the original what it was. Then I will have to explain to all my mates, who never played the original but have heard me go on for years about it and got the remake on that. That this is not what the original was like at all and get all defensive etc....
i put down Final Fantasy XV after an hour or so. was fed up of driving a fooooking boy band around.

There is a strong element of truth in this
It was like a poor mans hangover film without the comedy and the drinking
I went through a phase of playing them obsessively, but only really got hooked on 4.
FF IX
Crisis Core FF VII
FF VII
FF IV
IX has Vivi, who is the best character in the franchise. Crisis Core is possibly the best prequel ever made in any form of media - really fleshes out the story of VII, so much so that it arguably surpasses it.
Also played VI but it didn't really appeal to me. Thought VIII was awful for many reasons and tried X but again couldn't get into it. Keep meaning to go back as it's apparently pretty damned good.
FF7
FF10
FF8
FF9
then it got ruined imo. FF7 and 10 are two of my 10favourite games of all time. FF7 is number 1
Never even tried an FF game, bar maybe one about 20 years ago on the PS1 !
Is there a good starter one on the modern gen?
You can get a remastered FFX which was a fantastic game, and in my top 10 along with FF7.
Yea I'd say definitely 10 for the PS4 is a great way to get into a FF Game, you have to be accepting of the graphics for 7 as time has moved on but everything about 7 is still awesome IMO!
Vivi is definitely one of my favourite FF characters aswel!
I have Crisis core on an emulator on my phone, its a bit flaky, but would love if they ported it to PS4 in some form as never really played it!
I thought XII was ok. Apparently it's getting released on the Switch next year.
12 is a good game, however realistically the franchise has been on the slide since 10.
Which is a real shame cause 7 is the greatest game of all time.
The truth is they are products of their time and as a result the franchise is always going to struggle going forward cause those types of games (turn based linear storylines) are no longer what triple a games are.
It’s 17 years since FF10, which like I said is the last great FF
That says it all, by the time the next FF is out people not born when 10 was our will be old enough to drink...
