We played some good football under Mourinho and Conte, just different tactics. It wasn't always doom and gloom under them.

Do you just like disagreeing with everything other chelsea fans say

I'm not saying it was all doom and gloom, but for the most part we played counter attacking and less possession based football under conte and jose.

Disagreeing with your statement about Mourinho not implementing a style at Chelsea. He did implement a style, a very effective one albeit a more defensive one in comparison to Sarri.

Was not talking about jose at chelsea, but more he has failed to implement a style at utd in over 2 years. Thought that was quite obvious. My bad.

Oh ok, fair enough. Didn't realise we were talking about Jose as a United coach.

Again, he has implemented a style at United, it's just not what their fans are used to especially as many of them have been watching United under Fergie.

He hasn't really though has he, no style of play, chopping and changing cbs/full backs/martial/rashford and implementing fellaini half the time.

Not style at all imo.

don't want to get too bogged down on jose though, more on the influence sarri has already had with a lack of pre season is looking great.

Just an FYI passing stats=possessions stats. Possession is worked out by "the amount of passes a team completes/the total passes completed".

I'm not sure what Sarri can do for you as a long term manager, and how adept he is at making you compete with the likes of Man City. Yet from a purely footballing POV it is refreshing to see a talent like Hazard play under a manager who will get the best out of him.

Edin

i was on the article where you discovered that .

Breath of fresh air in regards to hazard etc edin. Doubt i'll look at going to any games as an inconvenience this year.

Sarri's been excellent so far, Jorginho has been key in getting his ideas to work on the pitch as you can see him order people about.

As you mentioned, we do rely on Hazard an awful lot but Giroud was brilliant on the weekend. He doesn't always get the credit he deserves, hoping he can start adding goals to his game too.

Defensively it's an issue but I feel Sarri knows this as he touched upon it in his post match press conference after the Cardiff game. Rudiger seems to be doing fine, Luiz has been very poor. Hoping Christensen impresses on Thursday.

The thing is about Giroud is that he was more effective in that one game than morata has been in the hole season

He needs to start the next game for me, he will always add goals and offers an great target option should we need to put it long

You've overlooked the fact that Giroud looked effective against back four (two CB's).
Morata has had to compete against back 3/5 in three out of four matches, the one-time Morata started against back 4 he scored and looked effective.
I see struggles for both against back 3/5.

In future might be an idea to play two up to combat back 3/5 at some points.
Perhaps by playing 4-3-1-2 which is a formation Sarri is not adverse to using.

Because I don't think anybody think's it makes a difference. Giroud's hold up and interplay is just miles better than morata's.

Immediately made a difference against newcastle.

It makes a difference, 1 extra defender to block, stop, close gaps in the middle. Simple.

posted on 18/9/18

Giroud wasn't the difference maker against Newcastle.

City are doing just that this season, alternating between two up top and one depending on opponent.

Just face it Cmf Morata is crap and hasn’t worked out stop trying to defend the undefendable. Morata should only play in Europa or early cup rounds

Yes Haza prefers playing off him than that big baby Morata

He cost too much for that.

But yes, his finishing cost us top 4 last season

CMF logic

1 defender extra = massive difference

Giroud coming on and affecting the result = no difference

City's strikers offer a different threat to ours, they've got pace in behind and Aguero can also come slightly deeper.

Ours don't really have the pace to make runs in behind.

Seems Sarri has implemented a style which mourinho has failed to do in over 2 years. Which is quite the feat without any pre season.
----------------------------------------------------------
Very true. Must suggest that this group of players were longing for a manager to encourage this passing style of football. I thought we'd really struggle (even with Jorginho) in the first few months of this season considering how late Sarri came in.
