I had him down for 15 goals this season, Probably about right given his current form. Kane is not exactly banging them in, but he has these dry spells, then suddenly he scores a couple of hat-tricks.

Most Salah has got in a season before last is 19 goals. The average for him would be 15. He won't score considerably more than that.

So at least we have facts here to support why he won't

I think its actually better if he scores less goals, an they are spread around Pools team more.

Look at Kane, who carries the responsibility of most of Spurs goals and you can see he is walking around with so much expectation on his shoulders and like Salah, looks a shadow of himself in prime form.

Dif is that Pools system seems to accommodate the lack of goals more than spurs system does.

Kane and Salah are class but they look very very average at the moment on current form. Pool just seem better equipped to handle it after reinvesting what they earned last year, whereas Spurs didnt reinvest what they earned.

Salah and Kane get so much attention now u see both coming way deeper to get the ball

Salah has played one season in this Liverpool team and scored 44 goals. Chances are he will score a lot of goals again, if not quite as many.

So you're going to ignore all the statistical data which clearly shows an average goal return for Salah is somewhere between 10-15 goals and that last year was nothing more than a one season purple patch and instead argue he'll get a lot more than his average "cos he plays for liverpool init".

Because statistical data is the best way to gauge the standards of players. Top clubs use the data to scout future talent. And we're not talking about bog standard GCSE averages or standard deviation calculations either. 'Averages' can be an accurate source of data when you factor in the various variables within the calculations.

Statistically last season was not much more than an anomaly for Salah. You can't base an analysis on the set of figures solely on last year and make a detailed conclusion that he'll always score 30+ goals every season.

I don't think anybody with sense has said he will definitely score 30 goals, but you are definitely saying he will score no more than 15, despite scoring more goals year on year the last 3 years.

Averages mean nothing in football, I don't think Ronaldo will score 50 goals when he's 38 because he averaged it over the last 10.

With all due respect to you Nick, this isn't your field. Trust me on this. You're essentially basing your understanding of the word 'average' on the GCSE definitions of it. Averages can involve a lot more complicated mathematics that take into numerous variables and deviations. But these are based on real data, over a length of time.

And there are many variables involved. Goals, apps, age, club, league, injuries, etc. Collate all these data together and the astute mathematician can can come up with a fairly reasonable prediction of future events. These are tools they/we use for modelling financial derivatives, structural integrity, weather patterns, crop supplies etc.

Also i didn't say he definitively won't score more than 15. I said he won't score considerably more than that.

hahahaha. I hope salah scores 20 goals just for that.
