Shouldn’t there be some glory if your a glory hunter?

Where was your 50k or whatever when you couldn’t get 9k for a premier league match?

See we can all do it
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bet you've conveniently forgotten you lot getting 9k for a top flight game though!

See we can all do it

Sandy have Spurs ever won a UEFA Cup or Europa League in their history?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes they won two UEFA Cups before Chelsea won their first. You don't seem to know a lot about football mate. Suggest you take up watching equestrian or something similar.

All Club's big or small are capable of getting shi it attendances during bad periods. We are all ardent about our chosen Club but at times following them can be facking depressing. I was present all through our low attendance days in the '80's but believe me it was facking grim.

1981-82 and 1982-83 were particularly depressing when after many years languishing in Div 2, brassic and seeing even the likes of West Ham, QPR and also Fulham (almost) playing in FA Cup finals and getting promoted to Div 1 while we nearly (by the skin of our teeth) avoided going down to Div 3 was enough to test even my resolve.

All the big Club's (and I include Chelsea and Spurs) are also capable of putting a large number of bums on seats and packing out big stadiums at home at take huge numbers of fans away. It's one of the criteria that goes to define the big Clubs IMO.

I don't Brummie, I was there, It was a bleak night on the terraces that game.

Still more than double the Arsenal got for a game against Leeds in the mid 1960s, I think they had a gate a little in excess of 4,000 that evening game.

Sorry Brummie didn't see you had already mentioned the Arsenal game.

Our crowds have not grown under Roman as stadium is same size.

We averaged 39770 season before Roman and 41k since (we added a few seats on East upper wraparound)

MK Spur and myself have already had a good chortle about that one Sandy!

Strange days those, we could get 16/17/18k at home to Plymouth one week then have an away following of 6/7/8k away at places like York the following week.

There was a video about it on youtube, about how we had the 3rd largest away support (behind Yoonited and Southampton 'B'.

That being said even in the 2nd division we sometimes used to pull crowds of 55k out of the bag.

As 69 said it was a very testing time to be a Chelsea supporter!

Some memories here 69, I think the 1st one, about 4"30' in, is Molineaux around 77, were we were actually banned from away games and still had about 7k up there.

Some memories from The Shed back in the day as well, some good some bad, I still have happy and conflicting memories of those days.

On one hand we didn't need to buy tickets days in advance, could pick your spot on the terrace, and absorb the atmosphere.

On the other hand you couldn't rule out having a bottle smashed over your head and finishing the day bloodied and bruised.

Yeah,

I don't recognise the others but even I was probably only about 12 when that would have been taken!

Apparently John Bindon the famous actor was one of the movers and shakers then and could easily be one of those in the photo. He was a local boy from Fulham whose party trick was to balance 6 half pint mugs on his schlong!!

Allegedly sorted out a bit of royalty also and is believed to have died of Aids.

He used to be known as the badboy lover of a well known actress Actress but I can't think for the life of me who she was.

And yeah, that party trick was well documented by the tabloids!

Looking at it again, I don't think any were Bindon, he was a good ten years older than DH, I'd say and none of them particularly bear a resemblance to him.

Vicky Hodge was the one I was thinking of, although he was also reputed to have meet Princess Margret - but then again who didn't!

I did read somewhere, possibly on Wiki a while ago that they said it was Aids but I see now no-one is saying that.

posted on 22/9/18

This is his wiki page, says he died of cancer in 93, only 50 as well.

As I say Brum, I think someone has obviously corrected the earlier wrong info, coz I definitely saw it and when you see something like that you commit it to memory and don't forget it.
