Agree, I feel Conte would do good things at United in the short term especially if he gets the backing.

He'd switch the formation to a 3-4-3/3-5-2 which in my opinion would get the best out of their players.

De Gea
Bailly Smalling Rojo
Dalot Fred Matic Pogba Shaw
Rashford/Martial Lukaku/Alexis

Smalling would really struggle in the D.Luiz role but aside from that the team looks like it actually could get the best out of the players.

would be funny just to see wahl's articles if conte won them the league. Would mean twice jose couldn't motivate the players and twice conte won the league with the exact same mob.

Having said that, utd have A LOT of dross so doubt he would be as successful.

You mean the treble and world cup winning dross?

yup

I agree. They could have a strong couple of seasons under him especially if they don’t get Europe next season. Their squad suits him.

Our players struggle badly in a back three/five. It doesn’t suit that formation at all. I don’t know why people keep saying that when there’s plenty of evidence to the contrary.

The thought of them appointing Conte acquired to me just the other day. All these silly ideas they have about not being Chelsea Rejects F.C, that will really take the cake

I'd give them the benefit of the doubt with Mourinho as he was respected to a certain degree by United fans before joining them, but that'll be no hiding place when they flip flop on Conte if appointed. Did nothing but mock his celebrations and hair

In all seriousness I get the point of the article. It would be a decent appointment for them, will immediately get Pogba on board, which in turn would get the press off their backs which is half the problem already solved. They would need good investment in WB's, but once that's done that'll be a force with Conte for sure.

We’d need a whole new back five. We don’t have any ball playing cb’s.

Hmm. Maybe one. Bailly would be the Rudiger type player, Lindelof potentially could be the Azpl player, could do with a Luiz/Christensen.

You have two England international CBs + another two that Mourinho himself bought!

Mourinho obviously wasn't interested about them being ball playing then!

Rudiger is a much better passer than Bailly. Lindelof is shiiiiit. And all our defenders look dodgy in that system. We need to fix the back four even now in a back four. Needs even more work for a back five. I do think Conte would do a good job, however. He’s a very good cosch. I just hope we don’t go down that route with him. Tired of watching defensive football.

Lindelof was supposed to be a ball playing cb, but he looks scared of his own shadow so haven’t seen much of it, Brummie.

If only you'd come to us for advice three seasons ago Darren, we could have saved you all this Jose heart ache!

Alexis, on form Conte sides do play good football, the only issue is he heavily relies on his wingbacks, if they are off form things collapse.

Our 13 match winning run was the 2nd best football we played in the Roman era behind the last two months of the double season, although that said i would have two of Jose's sides in at 3 and 4.

I didn’t want him to begin with.

I don’t enjoy the football Conte’s teams play. It’s defensive. He’s had players that are enjoyable but that’s not the same.

Our attackers also need a manager that with good attacking instruction and coaching and Conte’s not great at that. He’s Mourinho when Mourinho was good. Not what I want to see. Even it he’d get good results.

Would you be happy with Zidane then?

I personally think he did a stellar job at Real, really surprised me how tactically in tune he was with his players. And he's very forward thinking, plays really aggressive football. It's a weird analogy, but he sort of reminds me of a better version of RDM in the quarter season he had before we replaced him with Benitez.

I hope that Jose stays as Man U manager for the time being.

I think Zidane would bomb at United. I think it was the perfect storm at Madrid. But I’d rather him than Mourinho.
