Former Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has thrown his name into the ring for the Aston Villa job.

McCarthy is out of a job after he walked out on Ipswich Town last season.

Speaking on Virgin Media Sport in midweek, McCarthy made it clear he’d love to get the job at Villa Park.

McCarthy also commented on claims that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry could get the Villa appointment.

In typically surly style, McCarthy made the following comment on Thierry Henry:

Other than 4 top half finish’s, beating every team in the league home and away and the English National team copying our model and structure and stealing our manager and director of football that ultimately put the steps in place to this years World Cup semi final.

Top half finish so what? beating every team home and away, again so what?

And England achieving anything this world cup was down to the $hit opposition, the decent teams we faced we lost everyone. sod all to do with albion.

I'm hoping for much bigger things from Wolves, and lets face it, we have every chance of doing so.
