Great news, brilliant player and seems like a wonderful person who never throws up a fuss.

Was watching 'The Debate' programme on YouTube, there was a discussion on Kante's position in the side:

Beyond tying hazard down this is the most important thing we could do as a club. His comments on his new deal sums up the guy perfectly. World class player and world class attitude.

"Im happy to extend my time with Chelsea, it has been two beautiful years and I wish for more to come, Since I came, I completely improved as a player, challenged myself and got some awards I never thought about. I like the city, I like the club and I am happy to be here for more time."

Way too much wasted discussion about Kante's new position. Pointless talk as we are no longer a defensive counter attack team. Yes that is a perfect position for him as he proved for both Leicester and us under Conte.

But he is doing a great job as our only defensive player in our midfield three, of course he is not as dominant in the new role as the holding role but that does not mean he is not playing well.

Second most successful player in England the last 3 years just after hazard(who probably edged it on motm and goals). 2 leagues and an Fa cup. Oh and a World Cup if we include internationals which makes him the most successful in the country.

Best midfielder in the league, atleast at what he does. Absolute joy to watch

That's very, VERY good business. Though he's still finding himself in SarriBall he's the perfect squad presence especially for a club like us who change direction so frequently. If worst came to the worst and Sarri didn't work, he's the sort of player you know for a fact will do a competent to excellent job for whoever the manager is, whatever his style is.

Great person as well. The sort of guy you want to represent your club

Why can't Sarri play him as a defensive midfielder and stop him from advancing furthur up the pitch to score goals which is not his strength and have him play as a defensive midfielder. Also,I want Azpilicueta trying to cross the ball in the box for Morata to score headed goals for Chelsea and for Giroud if he starts.Kovacic should not be risked also and he should play next week v Fulham. We can have RLC replace Jorginho v Tottenham and have Pedro starting instead of Willian as a winger.

Because he can't play the Jorginho role to the rquired level and that is essential for Sarriball.

If you want us to go back a team that concedes possession and relies on counter attack then fair enough, Kante is perfect as the holding player. But if you want Sarriball then you can't have both

In extension to what Biggish said Kante's wasted as a holding player in a three man midfield, unless the setup is very defensive.

The point of him being who he is, why he's so good at his role, is that his positioning and the fact he covers so much of the pitch means you can play a two man midfield up against three's and not worry about being turned over. Bit of a gold mine in today's football climate.

If Ferguson was still managing (pretending he's 10 years younger for argument's sake), you can bet Kante would be a United player right now and they'd probably still be able to play 4-4-2 because of him.

I wonder , if he was playing at C/F, would he score more goals than Alvaro Morata ?

And he’ll still be doing the work of three men.

RLC would score more goals upfront as a forward than Morata or Giroud in this current Chelsea team.
