I have never been Trippier's biggest fan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Niether am I. But the conundrum is why he played so well for England at the WC?
Southgate moved Walker to CB so he could play Trippier at RB.
Go figure, Sandy ole' boy!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He didn’t play that well, his performances were just overblown because he created chances from corners and free kicks. For example, stats might show he created 12 chances throughout the tournament which might have ranked pretty high among everyone there, but most of them were from set pieces so for me I don’t put much weight on that.
Trippier is limited but his attacking contribution is way more than just set pieces.
Really? I must have missed that over the last couple of years then.

What attacking contribution, as soon as he receives the ball in the opposition half, he always turns back, and passes backwards.

Not always, Sandy.
I quote from a report from the field at the WC ......
" Trippier capped off an excellent tournament with a first international goal, memorably opening the scoring against Croatia in the semi-final from a free-kick."
Yes, he scored! Against Croatia, the tournament's number 2 team.
Nevertheless, I am not a fan of Trippier, I think he just to demned slow.
There’s a lot to pick holes in Trippiers play but you can’t deny his attacking contributions.
Only dele & Eriksen contributes more in terms of setting up goals
Neither Davies nor Trippier have had particularly good seasons so far but it does seem like Trippier gets more of the stick, when his contribution in attack is probably better and he did score us an important winner.
It's a bit like with Lloris when people remember the bad more than the good.
