Spalletti: Pochettino “one of the greats

posted on 28/11/18

It's all about semantics chaps.

Is Poch 'one of the greats', as in the greats of all time? No way, he's won nothing.

Is he currently great? Yeah for sure.

At the moment he isn't in the same league as managers like Fergie, Pep, Jose (on balance of his career), Lippi, Ancelloti etc.

But he has done incredibly at spurs and is still in the early stages of his career. In 20 years time you can judge him properly.

Love the man

We fell on our feet with his early buys and academy though

Toby, Dele, Trippier, Dier, Davies all signed for under £30m

Plus academy players like Kane, Mason, Bentaleb all here especially early on to get us going on the path with Kane becoming world class.

Are you gonna tell me that he's "one of the greats" though?

Pochettino, with little cash to spend, has built the Spurs side and achieved nothing. Zero. Not even a final.

1. Pep
2. Mourinho
3. Emery
4. Klopp

All managers in the PL better than Poch. Doubt anyone can seriously argue against this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Took Spurs to the League Cup final in his first season ! Try again!

Poch has had a 4.5 season head start. Plus you can't compare Poch to Emery trophy wise. It's not even remotely close.

Poch is a good manager but to classify him as great is surely taking the proverbial.
And by the way , he got Spurs to the league cup final
in 2015. Lost to Chelsea. So we do have a final under his tutelage. Get your facts right!
After Guardiola , for me Poch is the best manager in the league .
Pinocchio Klopp, I won’t spend obscene amount of money ..next in line. πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

Mourinho won’t last 5 mins at spurs. Needs a huge war chest . Poor at managing when things go awry. Ok at Chelsea when league less competitive.
Yesterday’s posteuring confident man long gone.

Emery never did anything than top four at his previous clubs in their relevant leagues, other than going to France and the one team league, with PSG. My granny could win the title with them as it currently stands.

He has yet to manager an Arsenal team to beat anything other than cannon fodder since he has been over here.

what does it mean if Arsenal beat us at the weekend?

They won`t.

Sandy, Emery won the Europa cup with Sevilla, three years in a row. That's a club the size of Everton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wenger won the FA Cup three years out of four, doesn`t mean a thing. Ever heard of luck of the draws and all that. Cup football carries a lot of luck. League football rarely does. When he can manage Arsenal to three top three finishes in a row, then he can be compared to Poch.

You've become a bit odd ever since you've morphed into a mini-GB.

How can winning silverware mean nothing?!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not arguing that it's an impressive achievement, but Sevilla have typically finished 3rd-5th in the past decade or so. Everton have typically finished 5th-8th. In relative terms, Sevilla are more like Arsenal or Spurs than Everton.

In that respect, Sevilla have largely been one of the best teams in the Europa League each season, much like Arsenal or Spurs would be.

this is such a desperate comment

you're now clutching at straws and you sound silly to be honest
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not really mate. Emery has proved nothing in the Prem, Poch has. Sure he may not have any trophies, but he has given Spurs CL football on a regular basis, more than any of us can ever asked for. Emery meanwhile is still basking in the glory of being able to manage Thursday night football, the competition that nobody wants to be involved with.

Of course he hasn't proved anything. He only started 4 months ago

There are 3 main teams in Spain. Sevilla are very much behind those clubs. Plus their financial clout in non-existent. They continually have to sell to makes ends meet.

A club of Sevilla's stature winning the Europa is massive, let alone three in a row.

another silly comment.

How can you blame Emery for Arsenal qualifying for Europa last season when Emery started working there 3-4 months ago

every time I see your comments I am more and more sure you comment to provoke reactions.

had it been poch we were talking about, I am certain you would be saying 'poch has worked wonders with the mess he inherited' etc etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not interested in him mate. I don`t support Arsenal, so why would I even be bothered about him. Only interested in Spurs, what he did in Spain I really have absolute no interest in.

My only interest is how Poch and Spurs do. If you want to praise and worry about Emery that is your call, but don`t expect us all to.
