Btw, Mourinho is a bigger Chelsea hero than Zola will ever be.

Only in your dreams. You have no idea about the affections our fans have for Zola and how he didn't tarnish his reputation with us unlike Boreinho who chose to bring it upon himself.

That like saying Mourinho is a bigger hero than Osgood, Terry, Drogba and Lampard...oh my days

You really don't get it

You're the one that doesn't get it. You can't compare what Zola did for Chelsea to what Abramovich did for Chelsea. Chelsea owe their entire club to Abramovich, nothing can ever repay him for what he did to the club. Chelsea will always be his club.

"Not really. I definitely remember the fans supported Ancelotti and Hiddink, but they never were as affectionate towards them as they were towards Conte and they are seemingly currently towards Sarri."

Are you for real?We were begging Hiddink hard to stay and created banners pleading with him to do so and called Ancelotti King Carlo,in what way was that not showing affection?

"This whole 'clinginess' has only happened post Mourinho's second departure "

No it didn't, we genuinely missed Mourinho the first time and despite him having more success than us during the period after his departure we were genuinely happy for him and some even took on his teams as their second teams, since he has left the second time the boot has been on the other shoe and it kills him and it shows with his salty attitude towards the club and supporters!!!!

"that a lot of it is genuinely down to a desperation to create a new hero "

We don't need to create one, we have one sitting next to Sarri who was a hero at the club before we knew who the hell Jose was.

"I don't know what Sarri will achieve at Chelsea, but the fans are going way over the top to talk about how much they like him when he hasn't done anything to merit that (again, yet)"

Not one single Chelsea fan has said Sarri (or even Conte for that matter) has been better for Chelsea overall than Mourinho, but what's wrong with chanting their names? And don't say because Sarri hasn't won anything with us yet or Conte didn't either when we started, because Jose himself got his name sung the first time in the third match when he, well, was still to win anything with us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
See, your comment has so much bitterness in it. You take multiple shots at Mourinho, just proving my point that Chelsea fans' jealousy over Mourinho is the main thing here. And the amount of support Conte got was on a different level to Ancelotti or Hiddink ffs. It was embarrassing how the fans acted towards him just because they were so desperate to replace Mourinho.

Btw, Mourinho is a bigger Chelsea hero than Zola will ever be.

You know nothing, both Hiddink and Ancelotti were idolised by most fans at the time, not that I'd expect you to remember as you support United and it was nearly a decade ago.

The only person bitter is Mourinho, he couldn't cope with the fact that we moved on and were more successful with Conte than he's been at United, the only person that seems more upset about it than he was is you.

Jose got so mad about it he started talking thrash about the supporters and the club, ruining the relationship he had with us for many years, he has no one to blame but himself for disrespecting the club and supporters to the lengths he did.

You don't sound bitter at all, do you. Plus Chelsea were more successful with Conte for one whole year, wow I'm sure that one season of success really got to Mourinho, didn't it.

He doesn't care. I don't know why you're pretending that Mourinho is jealous or something. He just literally doesn't care and I think that you're deluding yourself if you think he does. I guess that makes you feel better considering you'll clearly still heartbroken over him leaving in the first place. It's a shame you can't be positive towards him like I am and have chosen to take this bitter, negative stance because I think we both had the same reaction when Mourinho left, which was that we were both sad. You've gone another direction since then though, clearly.

Mourinho was ragingly jealous of our title season under Conte and we both know it,his salty words about the club fans and Conte spoke volumes. And it wasn't the one year, Contes overall spell at Chelsea was more successful than Jose's at United and the only way that changes is if he wins United the league or CL which let's be honest ain't happening is It?

Why would I be jealous of him?? We got his best years along with Inter and now he's left and we are beating him to trophies, you're clearly upset that we keep beating him however.

And I was relieved when he left the second time, I was genuinely fearing relegation at one point, the club always comes before one man.

Under The Bridge is absolutely right regarding Mourinho's jealousy, and that's part of the problem with his relationship with the fans now.

Back in 2010 when he knocked us out of the CL we joined in the Inter chanting of his name during stoppage time, he got one over us and we made it all about him. In 2016 when we beat United 4-0, he made a decision at full time to make it all about him. Looking back that little detail went a long way to prove where our relationship always stood, we just didn't see it in the glory years - it was never a two way thing, we were just excellent ego strokes.

I'm with Erik on the issue of our support desperately trying to replicate that connection we thought we had with Mourinho since he left in 2007. We idolize managers very quickly and Mourinho is the underling reason behind that, but all that proves is Mourinho showed us how great it is to believe in our manager as a member of our club family. Hindsight has shown the Mourinho relationship was an illusion (skillful one by Jose but an illusion none the less), doesn't mean the rest of them were too, e.g. Hiddink definitely wasn't, semi came out of retirement to help clean up the 15/16 mess.

You could I suppose argue we're selfishly angry at Mourinho for breaking that bond but that's not the same as jealousy. Very few fans would take him back for a 3rd spell now, too much has happened and frankly there's better than him out there now, if the issue was jealousy we'd u-turn that anger immediately.

I disagree about it never being a two way thing. When Mourinho's inter team eliminated Barcelona from the Champions league the season after Chelsea were robbed against Barcelona at the semi final stage, Mourinho said something along the lines of "This was for my Chelsea boys." When he was at Chelsea the second time, he was complaining about pundits who were giving Chelsea a hard time and he said 'When I retire, I will become a pundit on television and defend Chelsea." Watch any of his interviews in his final season and tell me he doesn't care. He cared so much more than anyone else at the club that season.

In terms of why things have gotten worse since Mourinho left, I think Mourinho didn't expect the fans to forgive the players as easily as they did and he didn't expect the fans to try and replace him with Conte as easily as they did. I think these two actions upset him, and I agree with that. For Chelsea fans to sing Conte's name less than a year after their greatest ever manager was fired from the club at least partially due to the actions of the players at the club, is a little classless and insensitive. I understand football fans are fickle and only want to see their team doing well, but in the same you expected better from Mourinho, maybe he expected better from the Chelsea fans.

Just my opinion. The fans moved on a little too quickly and forgave the players a little too easily.

He said it was "for his Chelsea boys" two rounds after Inter got away with clear penalty's against us themselves. It was easy for him to be nice about a team he beat, do you reckon he was smiling and saying "theres my Chelsea boys" after they won the CL without him?

Ill give him the benefit of the doubt on that one but in hindsight it's hard to imagine him being happy that Di Matteo succeeded where he didn't!

The fans got behind Conte quickly because with a broken team that finsihed 10th the season before, after just 6 PL games in charge, he took Chelsea on a record equaling 13 game winning streak that set up a title challenge and eventual win. Simultaneosly, Conte's displays of passion on the sidelines resonated with the fans.

He did at the least the same, if not better than what Jose achieved in his first season at Chelsea, so why wouldn't he get the same raection from the fans?

Putting the notion of whether the support for Conte was disrespectful towards Mourinho or not, I still don't understand how he was supposed to expect anything different? Addressing Erik.

You've told me on several occasions anything Jose's said as United manager that could be twisted into a sneaky jab at Chelsea was him doing his job appeasing United's supporters, how is the fanbase relying behind Conte any different, more or less moral than Mourinho doing his job? If we didn't get behind our new manager whoever he was we'd be doing the club a disservice, and the fact Mourinho was affected by it just demonstrates we did our duty to our club very well.

It always amuses me whenever this Mourinho discussion comes up because had he chosen not to act so bitter since taking that United job, with the exception of the really die hard crowd you can bet anything we'd be more supportive of him in his current predicament than United fans are right now
