Ozil ill again?

He's either ill, injured or fallen out with Emery. I'm beginning to think it's the latter.

Where is Ozil, ffs? What is with all the unexpected absences? What's the excuse today - another illness?

Why no Ozil? No creativity in that midfield. Lacazette should start. Mkhi also been very poor this season.

Apparently he got a back spasm in training, according to Arsenal's official twitter.

I agree. Good for Emery for not taking any of his BS

Ffs Ozil missing again

Expected front 6 for Spurs. There's a lot of energy there for them, so we need to be far more switched on.

Lol there is no way Ozil is injured. Either Emery has dropped him or fallen out with him or both.

We going with a back 3 again

I'd agree if we had more creative players in our team. We don't.

The problem is he is by far our most creative player. Missing a player like that in a big game is not a good thing. For all the flack he gets, he was MotM in the corresponding fixture last season and, even when he's not performing well, can still create a few decent chances per game. We will be relying heavily on Iwobi and Micky, the latter of whom has been notably poor for a long while now.

Yeah he’s definitely fallen out and been dropped. Lack of creativity without him. Could do with buying another creative player to take over from Ozil if he’s going to keep having strops

The annoying thing about a lot of his absences is absolutely no indication of it pre-match until you see the match-day squad. Happened a number of times last season with his illnesses. There was no indication at all he'd be missing at all today. Now the soft caant is not even in the squad.

Precisely. Which is why I think he's had a rift with Emery.

I'm worried, Mkhitaryan starts, Lacazette on the bench and no Ozil in the squad!

You can just tell we will need to dig deep in the first half...

We are going to miss Ozil in this match. Iwobi and Mkhi are nowhere near Ozil's class. No doubt Lacazette will come in later, but I'd rather he started.

Given how well he's performed, I'm actually surprised Smith-Rowe isn't on the bench. 3 goals in his last 5 appearances suggests he can be a goal threat when needed. He certainly poses more of a goal threat than Iwobi or Mkhitaryan.

Looks like Ozil will be gone in the summer

It never ceases to wind me up that we spend the wages of 3 quality midfielders on one unreliable twaat. Ozil earns like 5 times the wages of Eriksen. Wasting so much money that ends up limiting our ability to improve the team

Thank Gazidis and Wenger for that.

Can’t afford a sloppy start. I imagine spurs will try to really go at us from the off to take advantage of that. If we can get to half time not losing I think we’d stand a decent chance of beating them

Although i agree, it's easy to say with hindsight.

At the time, we were doing terribly in the league and it looked like we were going to lose both Alexis and Ozil in the same window. There would have been uproar and scathing criticism from fans, pundits, ex-players and journalists if we didn't tie at least one of them down to a new contract.

Ultimately, it is the club's fault for not sorting out their contract situations a lot earlier, but when you've put yourself in that position, the players can hold you over a barrel.

Unfortunately, the £350k a week we decided to pay him was far too much, but at the time, a lot of Arsenal fans were happy that he was staying.
