That’s not really a barometer of anything in my eyes to be honest.

We have a good set of fixtures coming up and we need to put a run of wins together

The one thing we don't know for sure is how many points are required for top 4, but if we can maintain that 6 point cushion on top of points held last season, you've got to feel that around 83 points is going to be enough to get it.

I used to do this once. Spent the better part of a decade rationalizing relative increases in Arsenal's seasonal point tallies, while the rest of the league passed us by.

As you were. I'll see myself out.

I don’t think it’ll need to be as high as 83 points. More than likely that 3 of the contenders will be in the Europa league in the new year so the Thursday/Sunday routine is bound to have an adverse effect on all of us.

A lot of games there but I’d be disappointed if we didn’t take at least 20 points from that

I was hoping it would affect Chelsea and Arsenal more than it has so far but worryingly they've kept winning in Europa and performing well in the league. I guess when the bigger games come up it should be harder to maintain form.

Looking at those corresponding fixtures last season:

- Southampton (H) = 3
- Leicester (A) = 0
- Burnley (H) = 1
- Everton (A) = 3
- Bournemouth (H) = 3
- Wolves (H) = 1
- Cardiff (A) = 3
- Man Utd (H) = 3
- Fulham (A) = 0

Getting 5 points more would be pretty doable.

2-1 up at half time we should have had the bottle to win that game, or at least not lose it. to lose the second half 3-0 is an absolute disgrace. you should never be losing a half of a derby game by 3 goals, especially if the sides are evenly matched. Poch's decision to leave out Toby A, in favour of Foyth, for a NLD, was an absolute joke, but where was the leadership on the pitch. I didn't see one caaaannt in the whole spurs team grab someone by the scruff of the neck and sort out the whole thing. zero leadership from Kane lloris verts, who got himself sent off, or any other of our senior players.

Spurtle,

The difference with the game last season is that we won it by two contentious decisions (three if you want to count the foul on Alexis Sanchez by Davinson which wasn't a foul to begin with). A lot of people were saying it was a hugely controversial win decided by poor ref decisions.

This game, we outfought and outmanoeuvred you for the majority of the game. And we had to beat you from going behind as well (from a penalty decision that wasn't a penalty). We genuinely earned that win from start to finish.

It's hypothetical, but had we gone behind to you last season, I don't think we would have had the mental fortitude to come back and win it as convincingly as that.

Whatever you think about this 19-game unbeaten run we're on, Emery's instilled some resilience and a never-say-die attitude that previously hadn't existed under Wenger for 6-7 years.

I agree. Unacceptable way to lose a game for us with our form the way it's been after getting our noses in front.

The defence continues to be the problem and is going backwards due to all the changes to it. It's like a defence in transition when it need not be.

Tbf it was a false position we was in anyway. No chance we deserved to be 2-1 up at half time.

We got what our performance deserved although why when we go into a losing position late on we have to conceded again annoys me.

I called it as soon as I saw the team sheet.... foyth and verts starting together for the first time. foyth a talent but gives away pens for fun, verts recently back from long term injury. away at arsenal. biggest game. it makes no sense on any level what on earth was Toby doing sitting on the bench. just play him and play foyth against Southampton ffs usually I calm down soon after a spurs game but im still furious

I would happily have taken 2-2 when that was the score, but I knew we would lose... the 4th goal really faaaacked me off though,. and I am surprised we didn't concede a 5th. 5-2 like the old days

It's obvious you're an improved side this season and your performance was better. I was expecting a tough game and we got one, so our defeat this season is somewhat more understandable than last season.

Race for top 4 more on than ever now.

I cannot remember the last time I was so angry after a spurs game. foyth named in the team and straight away that gives arsenal a boost in the changing room. so needless. and look how they started - and thats a team that start slow in almost every game.

really really poor stuff from poch and the team today. awful actually. one of his worst days at the office since he took over. in game management was also shocking

To be fair Chronic, the two games this season where we have actually started at a fast pace and played at a high tempo were Liverpool and today against you lot.

Maybe these players relish the bigger games at home more than they do against Wolves, Watford etc.

I was so shocked to see him start this.

Dele Alli made six passes in the entire second half.
Four of them were from kick offs.

The team is tired, there is no money and there are no reinforcements in January.

1. Man City
2. Liverpool
3. Arsenal
4. Chelsea
5. Spurs
6. Everton

Even if we didn't deserve it, that's what top teams can do....ride their luck when not at their best and make the most of it. Burst the opposition's bubble.

Our handling of the game when we were in that 2-1 lead should have been so much better.

It's as if Poch is expecting to lose Toby in the near future and so he's getting Foyth readied for when it comes.

Hard to know how this team is going to react to playing this Arsenal again so soon in the cup. What kind of team is Poch going to play? Will it give Arsenal renewed confidence of doing a number on us again and Spurs less belief, or will they be desperate to make amends?
