It's good to know that Preston have their injury worries too. Nevertheless I still worry about Ben Osborn at LB. He is a very good player but he's not a LB.
Hopefully everyone who starts will be fresh and good for 90 minutes (unlike last week). Again as I said last week I would like to see Arvin Appiah and Karim Ansarifard have a good run out tomorrow if circumstances permit.
Should be a win even with a make shift back line. Hopefully no more injuries.
Oh and can the manager tell Costel not to make the time wasting so obvious. Goes down as an unnecessary yellow card and a club fine in my opinion
Yes how many of our midfielders are on 3/4 yellows?
Got a bad feeling this could be dropped points, just something about Preston
Fingers crossed we keep the trend of early goals going and can then control things, if not could be a tough afternoon
Agreed Bunk. PNE had a poor start but have picked up nicely until last Saturday when the wheels seem to have come off.
Be nice if their keeper's confidence is blown after his howler last week; hopefully Joe will be firing them in from all angles after seeing that.
Karanka certainly looked tired and drawn in the interview. There are obviously issues somewhere although he did say on Saturday after the Ipswich win that it was not football related just "things". Perhaps he has family or personal health issues which he does not want to divulge or is the appointment of a new director of Football a problem?
2017/18. Preston. At home. The game when AK-47 took the safety off.
Feels like we’re a completely different club. Definitely a completely different squad. There’s only Osborn and Darikwa left, and that was warburton’s Darikwa.
For that reason tomorrow acts as a good benchmark. It’s hard to be as abject as we were although Preston are not too far removed from that top half side from last season. It’ll be tough. May have to make up for our defensive frailties and go the villa route of outscoring preston. Robinson did play as CB last season apparently so maybe we’re worrying about nothing.
Scrappy 2-1 imo
Watching WBA v Villa, my two favourite Forest games this season have been against these two, we really stepped up to the occasion and played some great stuff in both games.
2-2 is a good result in the North Brum Derby, I reckon. The Villa charge has been stymied a little.
Should Karanka be worried about the appiktnwmnt of the new Greek lad? I would hope that his record is Joe speaking for itself and he will still have his say over all of the important issues. It seems to me the media are pushing an agenda to try and illicit a reaction from Karanka. They would love a blow up like the one he had up at Boro. I hope Aitor has learned from that episode and is wiser for it.
appiktnwmnt. Not even how you spell appointment in Greek...😩
I have no problems over Osborn at left back if that is how it pans out. I wish people had a little more faith in him. It must frustrate him. He has played a large amount of games for several different managers. He didn’t have a good game at Burton but who did?
Karanka chucked in another red herring today by putting forward Yacob as a potential centre back candidate. He would be smaller than Fox, wouldn’t he? Would certainly win more than his fair share of the ball in there, though.
If Forest win today and Boro only manage a draw, we can go third. I think that will be incentive enough.
Preston had some good results in that run, but mainly against teams round the bottom, when they had a fitter squad. I can't imagine it having much depth.
Yes, we will have another CB pairing, but I think we will still have enough to win comfortably.
3-1 Forest.
My problem with Osborn at full back is his positional play when an attack breaks down. AK asks our FBs to push forward as much as possible. When Osborn does this from LB, if we lose possession it seems that Benny has to switch for midfield mode to full back mode which takes a second or two and that Joe Lolley tracking back is unsure we he should go.
The delay and confusion is enough to allow opposition to get round the back and into our box.
It maybe that if this happens that with Jack Robinson inside him he will be able to remind Ben he is a FB or cover for him when necessary.
Fingers crossed
My guess is it depends on the drill/ training this week where AK will have a feeling which combination works best.
Definitely good thing to have a week with no mid week games to prepare a solution
I see Rodriguez has admitted hand ball for his goal, sounds familiar 🤔

I haven’t seen it but is it as clear cut as the Leeds one?

Maybe so. For me, it is down to the two holding midfielders to step across as required to fill in when the full backs go forward.
Got a feeling the Reds will have too much for PNE. Places up for grabs for the El a Cloughico. Another 2-0 win for the Reds.

More so there is a camera behind the goal line and it clearly shows him knocking it in with his upper arm.
It really is cheating and the FA need to do something about it. The ball would have sun well wide of the post otherwise.
Up to a point Will. If the CM can get across early enough then fine, but don't want him pulled into the FB slot. If necessary he has to give away a free kick even at the risk of getting a card. When we lose the ball we need everybody in position as quickly as possible. Seconds count in these situations.

I take it back. I have seen it now. It was just as bad as Roofe’s against Forest. Makes a mockery of the rules. Just as bad as diving IMO and they take retrospective action on that.

No webchat this afternoon either; so one change to the line up with Benny Osborn drafted into the starting eleven at left back I expect.
Benny has been made skipper too.
