Liverpool
City
Leeds

Mainly because Liverpool have been closest to us over the years, all though that is changing.

I don't know why but when dirty Leeds beat us in the Fa Cup last year I was more peed off than when we've been beaten by the other 2 us.

For me its always been Liverpool mainly due to most of my friends supporting them and the banter being awful if they win against us but there has been a rise in Man City supporting friends recently...

good shout that actually future. it killed me when they piped us to the title in 92 as well. plus i'm going there tonight and depending on how i get on i may have to rethink my list!

Probably because being beaten by Leeds is a lot more embarrassing than City or Liverpool, who let's face it are both strong teams & are miles ahead of Leeds.

Anyway for me (On satisfaction of winning) it's:

#1. Liverpool
#2. City
#3. Leeds

Leeds are nowhere near the rivalry of City and Liverpool

posted on 20/9/11

beating liverpool in recent years hasn't been that satisfacotry as they've been garbage and i didn't have a problem with hogson. however, now they have the despicable dalglish back in charge all that has changed again....

@Unitedredmacca,

You must be younger than 20 then as they were the competition back when the Premier League was starting out.

You're probably right come to think of it. Although only knowing 1 City fan & around 10 Liverpool fans the banter with them after a win is a lot more fun.

I'm 46 and I know they are rivals of ours

Just not in the same way Liverpool and City are

Would you really class Leeds as big a rivals as Liverpool and City?

Certainly they are not a big club now but beat them now means as much to me as beating City now.

Wow I'm surprised

I'd be far more gutted losing any Derby than losing tonight

vidicthelegend it's not just that though I've always had a distaste for Leeds, I think it comes from my dad as he hated Leeds more than City and Liverpool and the fact the are a bunch of dirty bar stools.

@redmacca,

Old habits die hard I guess, I was pretty annoyed about losing to them at Old Trafford even though it was the CC...

It was the FA Cup and we made 10 changes that day

Only Berba and Rooney were first XI the time

Hated losing to them but always hate losing to Liverpool and City more

posted on 20/9/11

It's nice to be hated after the decades of being an irrelevance

You can't beat Derby day when you're a Manc red or blue

Liverpool has pretty much always been the game we wanted to win the most but the whole Derby day experience is unbeatable for Mancs in my personal opinion

..........................

I could level the same accusation at you. Because Leeds have never really been our rivals.

There was proabably a six year period when United and Leeds were rivals from around 68 - 74. Nothing more than that really.

Never gave Leeds a second thought after Liverpool began their dominance in the mid seventies.

What about when they were winning the league in 1992 and were our main challengers the following season?

Over the next 10 seasons we had some great matches with them before they started slipping down the leagues.

Liverpool were still our rivals then and after that City.

I don't like Leeds, but that is because of their ignorant fans more than any kind of rivalry.
