As an aside/for further discussion I think he'd do well with United's squad as they are full of players he likes/wanted in the past (Lukaku, Sanchez) or has worked with before (Darmian, Pogba). They have a lot of willing runners in midfield and full back, who'd probably not question his automatisms.
He's excellent at getting teams to the top of the mountain, it's keeping them there once done he struggles with, he isn't very good when people expect from his team.
This is a brilliant article with just one wrong comparison with Jose.Jose won Champions League twice but Conte hasn't come close to winning Champions League but the league record of Jose and Conte is quite identical.I agree with all of these points.

tbf conte done my nut in by the end but that second season he was dealing with a team consisting of moses, morata, bats, bakayoko, drinkwater, a raw rudiger and lots of other weaknesses. done well to win anything with that team
to my surprise.

You are surprised Man United fans don’t want another defensive manager?
I think his last season has sullied his reputation sone what. He’s still a top class manager.

did you see his first season for us? scored 85 goals (only second behind 86). Only went more defensive when wasn't really backed in the window and morata was found out to be a mess.
I think United fans are fed up of the club employing Chelsea leftovers, we've had enough.

Mourinho to date has the record for most goals scored in La Liga, does that mean he's attacking?
Goals scored isn’t indicative of a team’s style of play. Most fans want us to appoint an attacking manager which is why Conte isn’t someone they want.
In my mind yes................his record speaks for himself.
Last season he came up a new challenge and he handled it badly and made some big mistakes. He is a young manager. If he can reflect, learn and adapt to what happened at Chelsea last season then he will come back better and stronger.
In 15/16 he struck an excellent balance between attack and defence. The following season he went more defensive.
And is Conte really under appreciated?
I think everyone bar Jose and Erik admit the job he did for the title win was amazing, the fact he got deserved criticism for last season doesn't change that.

He's one of the best managers out there if you keep him happy. Out of all the managers United have been linked with, Conte would get them back to competing quicker than the rest.
I can understand the reservations about his style of football, but there is still a clear difference to how he sets his teams up to Mourinho's.
Despite the way in which he left, I'd still love to see him back in the Prem. One of the most entertaining managers to watch on the touchline, and his passion is contagious
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The big difference is that by using the wing backs his teams attack with width...............Jose never lets the full backs get across the half way line.
It was still mainly defensive. Not Mourinho style but that doesn’t change the fact. Rate him highly but not the biggest fan of the style of play.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we did appoint him, though. We keep appointing cautious managers.

It sprung to my mind he might be if United fans are so against him, although he does have his deficiencies which I can understand partly. But still if I was big Ed Woodward he’d be top of the list.

ffs that's the season Mourinho was sacked
And you don’t really hear him spoken much as a talented manager..I guess after our poor second season you wouldn’t have though as a Chelsea fan. But reflecting back i kinda admire him as a manager and the 15/16 season
sorry got my seasons mixed up

Good article
Not read the replies yet but.... on here probably, yes.
I also think the 3-4-3 type formation would suit their squad, certainly with regards to the back three and the wide players in the four as it addresses their weakneses. Shaw and Young could do well I reckon and the extra cb makes up for a lack of quality. Lindelof can pass too so a good option there just as Luis was.
Could Pogba play in a two? Probably not but as it stands Im not sure he can play in a three. B A N T E R.
Rashord and Marshall could do well playing in those inside forwardish channels also imo.
Wouldnt surprise me to see it announced tbh. I imagine they're also looking at how quickly he initially turned around Chelsea.

Put your house on Pochetino for the starts of next season.
343 is by far the worst formation suited to this squad.

Surprised you think that Darren. I think it could work.
I agree with Darren.....
Well Shaw could do the wing back role well, not sure they have a wing back on the other side of the pitch.
But Pogba and Matic in a central midfield 2? I think not. United would need to sign Kante at a minimum.
The front 3 works ok in that formation though.
But who would be the 3CB's?
