Although the goals didn't flow for Janssen, his all-round play was pretty good - when Kane was injured at the tail end of 16/17 he slotted in and the team scored plenty with him playing his part. He holds it up well, is physically strong and has a good touch and pass.

I think it is a shame it did not work out for him at ours, but with Kane here we have had to move away from having a backup CF as they do not get enough football - we tend to use Son as his understudy as the 9, or make do with others such as Moura, Alli or Lamela

Without being patronising, the standard in Scotland is much lower. He has proven he can score goals in the Eridivisie, and also for the Dutch. If he got one early doors for Celtic I think the floodgates would open.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That’s as maybe but plenty have come north of ghetto border with a swagger and gone home with their tail between their legs so for that idiot to come on here proclaiming this guy (who’s not played for yonks) would just be better than anyone at Celtic is palpably laughable particularly when he had to use the internet to find out who our players actually were.

He might be better. He might not. I highly doubt he’ll even play for us so it’s all a bit moot really but in order to form an opinion it’s usually best to find out both sides and then make your mind up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I saw enough of him for us to know there is a player in there, the touch is good as you expect from a Dutchman, he is not just a one-trick pony goalscorer (although very prolific in Dutch football)

He played less than 900 minutes of PL football for us though unfortunately, fragmented and spread across 20-30 games, and all in the shadow of Kane...knowing he has to do something exceptional to have a chance of keeping his place. It must be daunting for a pretty young lad.

He was pretty much first choice for Holland pre-Spurs too I think, and has a decent return for them - 7 in 17.

As a potential loan deal this should be an absolute no-brainer for Celtic really. If it works out, there may well be something worked out financially with Tierney to come the other way (hand on heart it is probably inveitable he will go). If he flops, meh

----------------------------------------------------------------------

As I said last night I’d never heard of him in all honesty but anyone coming to us from a top level EPL side is more than welcome and their ability should see them through. We do remember the last hope that came to us as some new star in the shape of Musonda from
Chelsea. Truly talented but unfortunately truly awful.

Hey, if he comes and scores all these goals I’ll be delighted. 👍

And you can keep your hands off Tierney

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I get your point about the likes of Musonda. As I said Janssen is a Dutch international, he is not a wet behind the ears youngster, but someone who has lost their way a little - a combination of a few things have contributed.

I honestly wish him all the best, I feel sorry for him - he was always on a hiding to nothing really. I feel he is suited to British football, and to be honest I am surprised there hasn't been PL interest.

I have not seen much of Tierney myself, but I know there is growing interest- just throwing it out there regarding any potential deals in the future. My guess is that if Spurs were interested in him, and Janssen does well, then there could be a suitable financial compromise

Tierney will inevitably leave at some point but I think it’ll be a straightforward money deal like Dembele was

Who knows?

At present I doubt Levy would accept much less than what he paid for him from a PL club, but that is not indicative of his actual value really, more the crazy way of things down here.

Regardless of his Spurs form he is still a Dutch international, who probably starts if fit, and is young enough to have nearly a decade of football left in him and scope to improve.

Chris Sutton at Chelsea springs to mind.

Celtic took a chance there, and it worked out handsomely

I’d be well happy with that.

As ever with these things I’ll believe it only when he trots out at CP in the hoops.

Our transfer windows have been nothing short of abysmal these last few seasons. Especially the January ones.

Yep

They’ll come charging out the traps as they usually do in an attempt to rattle us and snatch an early goal.

Keep it tight and slow the game down for the first half an hour by which time hopefully they’ll have blown their rses out and tiredness and the niggles settle in.

Just control the pace of the game is all we have to do.

We know what to expect.
