It’s a valid criticsm with regard to Pochettino. You cannot take all the plaudits for having the team so competitive, but then continually trot out net spend excuses when they continually fall short. It’s like how people were with Wenger.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why not?

He’s created a quality team that falls short. It’s perfextly reasonable to say that the lack of spending is why it falls short.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have they spent less than Leicester?

posted on 29/12/18

Maybe in the league, though it didn't wash when Leicester won it, but when it comes to winning cups it doesn't because they've lost to teams they are more than capable of beating.

Wonder if Liverpool are gonna bottle it too? 😂😂

Not sure. But using a once in a lifetime event is not really a sensible approach to the discussion.

Generally speaking, the lack of spending compared with clubs around them will be a contributing factor in their ability to win trophies.

It’s not that simple. Better squad = rotation in the cups. With a better squad they win those games with fresh, quality players.

Of course they ‘could’ win something. But the lack of spend is surely a mitigating factor when they don’t.

But as has been pointed out, that may be the case with the league. But it’s a bit more even in the cups and he hasn’t even really gotten than close to winning anything

Liverpool showing character where Spurs missed it

posted on 29/12/18

Robb, it’s all linked. Kane playing so many games, for example, cannot help.

The day they lost to City, Aguero has been rested for the CL tie in the week. Spurs don’t have that luxury.

Fatigue wasn't a factor, they were tactical issues and lack of bottle. Which falls on the players and coach not the balance sheet.

That’s a ridiculous comment. Of course it’s a factor.

It wasn't in the games they lost in the cups. I've had this conversation with you before, you just won't take your head out of the sand. I haven't got the energy to continue this for three days.

Why is fatigue not an issue in the cups?

Maybe it’s not my head in the sand. Maybe it’s your inability to accept a logical argument because it doesn’t suit your opinion.

Yes, maybe that is it. Grow up mate.

Because the Spurs players weren't fatigued in the games they lost in the cups. Did you even watch them?

How do you know if they’re fatigued or not?

posted on 29/12/18

Also, is having a big quality squad just about fatigue?

What about competition for places, ease of switching into alternative tactics and options from the bench to change a game?

Why?

It’s a genuine question. You think you know just by looking at them on the TV?

That’s just a cheap cop out.

This could be a reasonable discussion, but you’ve made a ridiculous comment and now blamed me for refusing to justify it.

Pathetic stuff.

Nonsense, I have plenty of decent discussions on here.

You’ve behaved liked a child and you’re trying to blame me for it. It’s not working.

I didn’t claim to know they were.

I challenged the idea that you can tell they weren’t just by watching them on the TV.

I also have three other benefits of having a quality squad that affects all games - not just the league.

But that's Man United fans I guess. The biggest plastics in the history of football.

.....

No, it isn't United fans. It is just this one in particular who is reactive to every game he sees.

Please do not confuse this cretin with the rest of us.
