Better than prime Taylor imo.

He did lose the final in 2013 to Taylor and he is still 13 wins away to match him
By the way, Bully Boy Smith is a sore loser, saying that Mike did not deserve his win. Cuuuunt

MVG was still up and coming at that stage while Taylor was at least close to his prime.
Maybe if Taylor had as much competition as MVG he has would have raised his game even more though.

I don’t like making comparisons this early in one player’s career.
A peak Van Gerwen I say is the closest I’ve seen to a peak Taylor, that means I think a peak MVG is better than a peak Barney, Priestley, Anderson etc.
I was too young to see a peak Bristow.
As for overall GOAT, it’s not only about peak play, it’s about bottle, big titles, consistency. In that respect, it’s obvious MVG has a long way to go to even be in the conversation.
Would be better to have this conversation in around 10 years.

I’ve seen clips of Bristows games and he wouldn’t even be a top 5 player now if he played at that standard
Agreed, but he was the best at the time, looked like he owned the place. Maybe he might have stepped up even more, had the competition been better. Very hard to compare eras. Conditions were probably different then too.

That’s fair also.
