Shared Ownership is the only option for most first time buyers in London. If they have a bigger deposit 40-50 grand let’s say then helptobuy is possible but nobody is gonna buy on the open market Zones1-4

Help to buy means you get a 5% deposit, so unless you want a house worth between 800k and 1m then you don't need such a huge deposit.

All this commuting cost talk is crazy.
My missus drives a 120 mile round trip daily commute which costs about £500 a month. She likes driving and says she would prefer the drive to keep living where we do. Plus she loves her job and gets paid about three times my salary, which she couldn't earn locally. Every time she's raised leaving they just give her a raise which helps too I guess.
I have about a 900 metre walk to work or sometimes just ride my bicycle if I'm in a rush hehehe.
I don't know how you guys can keep doing it year on year.
