I think Yorkshire's failure this year was just a blip and they must be favourites to return next year. The standard of cricket in Div2 is not so high so surely they can do what most often happens and yoyo back again.
We have no chance with either and whats the point with their IPL or International commitments.
Someone needs to sort out the clearly talented players we have and get them back where they were - Lyth, Shahzad, Rashid.
Completely agree that we desperately need an overseas batsman, Preferably who can bowl a bit. I have heard mootings of D Hussey (who doesn't seem to have too much involvement with Australia?). He would be immense.
We also need a lower order all rounder and a bowler.
We have to remember that in the CC, a couple of wins changes everything and if we had Rudolph earlier in the season (ie Notts) we would probably still be in the league, We have the players, they just didn't perform.
In the limited over games, I have greater fears. We are so reliant on Gale it is pathetic!
Perhaps they should go for Mo Yousuf who was impressive in his 6 week stint at Warwickshire early season and he has no IPL and international commitments and will score bucket loads of runs against division 2 bowlers. He will also be cheap.
Rashid has been a big let down. He needs to forget about playing for England and T20 games globally and concentrate on the bread and butter.
Shahzad has been injured and in and out of the team so it has not been easy but needs to work on his fitness.
Lyth was just a one season wonder.
I did mean Shahzad of course don't know what i was thinking!
Agree with most of these comments - hope you are wrong about Lyth though kash as they were talking about him for England at one time?
I am kinda wondering what value Moxon has been whilst there - nice guy but does he know what he is doing? And isn't Oldham getting on a bit to be bowling coach? I think a change of personnel is in order before anything else. How about getting Fletcher from India, he could be out of a job soon?
Lyth I can all but guarantee will not play for England.
Poor technically.
However, that doesn't mean he cannot be a good County player.
Averages 37 and only just turned 24 I believe.
Promising if he can convert the 20 and 30's into bigger scores.
