Looking like Martin O'Neil has the job

This is your Stuart Pearce appointment for me. Heart over head appointment as a reaction to the Greeks upsetting all the fans. I mean Karanka for Martin O Neill?!! Jokanovic would have been a much better choice

I’d have welcomed O’neill back with open arms 10-15 years ago but football has moved on and I don’t think he has.

Well let's wait and see, I'm sure that MON will understand the importance of beating the sheep rustlers next month; old fashioned manager or not.

He will hopefully make sure that Murphy understands who is paying his wages and the importance of concentrating on club football.

It feel it was always written that O’Neill would return to the CG one day. I’ll be backing him 100% and would hope the majority will. He understands what the Forest badge stands for and as an ex-player will be more determined to make it work. I just hope he can manage to persuade Robbo to come and help out as I think that could be the key for making this arrangement work.

It is different than the appointment of Pearce for me. O’Neill has great experience and will bring a good backroom staff with him, especially Steve Guppy. I felt Pearce didn’t have a great backroom staff and they didn’t give him enough support to get out of that rut that did for his time at the CG.

The fevered reaction from the Lambs down the A52 also suggests to me that this appointment could put Forest back in the race for the top six and they worried ...☺️

What DOES the Forest badge stand for, exactly Will? I always thought it was a drawing of a tree.

Interesting use of the phrase "fevered reaction" by the way.

Point proven...🤣

Yes. Doesn't get any more fevered than that.

O'Neill is hardly the sort of manager who would lead the owner to sack Karanka just to get MON in. From the sound of it he wasn't first choice. Jokanovic would have been a very good choice in my opinion, but he doesn't want it. So it was sack Karanka first and then see who is available, rather than having somebody lined up and then finding an excuse to sack Karanka. Which isn't really a great plan. You might have thought that a foreign owner might have some foreign coach lined up who you hadn't heard of but who might be the next Bielsa, or at least the next Farke. This is about as uninspiring as it gets.

Anyway, what DOES the badge stand for?

As far as O’Neill is concerned? The happiest and most successful times of his playing career. The kind of memories that will hopefully inspired him to get Forest moving properly in the right direction again.

Tried the likes of Montanier and they couldn’t cope with the pressures of the role. O‘Neill has gumption and is more suited to managing in this league.

Believe the plan was Jokanovic until be priced himself out of the market. He may well have got teams promoted to the Prem but he may also have overestimated himself and got greedy with his demands. Not what Forest need or want at this moment in time.

If O’Neill came across the best in interviews over the weekend then the owners are right to go with their gut feeling on this one.

I’m disappointed they didn’t stick with Karanka but that is how football goes now. I don’t think O’Neill will stand for any shenanigans so hopefully they’ll keep their oars out of team affairs now.

Who knows how to pick a decent manager? You never can tell how they will work out.

Probably the only two managers in all four divisions who come closest to guaranteeing success are Guardiola and Colin.

Nottingham Forest are set to announce that they will sack Martin O'Neil as their manager next year.

5 years to late. O’Neil may have done a good job 5 years ago, personally I think it’s a poor appointment, he is I am afraid to say past it.
Kind of reminds of the Psycho appointment, trying to appease the fans. I’d love to be proved wrong though.

Seems harsh that we are welcoming one of our legends in this way.

Whilst I can see the similarities with psycho this guy has a track recird of success with where he has been.

Got Ireland to the Euro Championships and the play offs for the World Cup. Wouldn’t say he has been idle!

It’s a very quick change of direction after signing the likes of Goncalves (think I’ve spelt that wrong). Would have thought Forest would have gone for a progressive continental manager to suit those kind of players. MON will be good old fashioned 4-4-2 and lump it to the big man up top.

posted on 14/1/19

Well everyone wanted 4-4-2 and sagged karanka off for not playing two up top do now we will see.

posted on 14/1/19

Regardless of how everyone feels, Forest are only four points from the top six. They haven’t been in this position for many years. I would say get behind O’Neill and see if he can get Forest going again.
