I don’t think he has the pace and stamina to man that wing. Easier to pick and choose when to go forward from full back without sacrificing an attacking threat due to having an extra attacker.
But the comparison is with the Spurs team of two years ago and there’s a massive decline in quality between the wing back and midfield positions you had that season.
Of course a downgrade on Walker, not a lot of pace or forward momentum. Strengths are more in the final 3rd with his link up play with the forwards and his crossing. Was an absolute gun back up to Walker in 16/17, was harder to notice his shortcomings. Still feel he has something to offer in the system that suits his game more.

Hugo’s positioning for the goal was bad but that's due to what happened before the shot. Other than that, he kept you in the game before your "onslaught" started.

is Dier back in contention then? you would hope if we went to a back 5 and Dier in midfield too we would leak a lot less goals. I think the OP team is definately worth a go.

Dyo know what, I know this will not be popular but I think Hugo should be dropped. I still think he should have done better for the goal yesterday and argued with MK yesterday on the match thread. Watching Monday Night football and Carragher agrees. Not only should he save it how he was positioned, but his positioning was terrible when you see it back. I feel he makes too many mistakes and doesn't earn us many points. Time for Gazza to step in. I know that's harsh and he is our captain but he isn't the same keeper he once was.

hmmm.. would be a huge call tbh. I have been consistent in my view that he is an overrated keeper. he is good, sometimes very good, but no more than that.
I have full confidence in gazza, personally, but it would still be a big call to make.
