It will be interesting to see what side Nuno puts out.
I would have thought Ruddy and Vinagre are certain starters.
But you would then think, Gibbs white, Coata, Caveleiro, Traore could all come in and have enough quality to come through the tie.
No real options at the back, so Coady , Bennet and Saiss, with either Doherty or Jonny rested.
Sorry Gem not Shrews related, but just seen this, ludicrous article about people wanting the laws changed to stop us scoring goals:
https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/complete-disgrace-wolves-winner-over-2449971
McInally - "If it happened to Wolves, they would have been raging as well.” - have a look at Man City's first against us on Monday night pal, similar scenario.
Most important thing is that the rules are clear, and I do think the offside rules have become more complicated since they changed it so that part of the judgement is whether a player is ‘active’ or not. As Brian Clough used to say ‘if a player isn’t interfering with the play, what’s he doing on the pitch’.
Fact is Jiminez was onside when the ball was played to him and Jota was onside when the ball was played to him. But I suspect some linesmen would have flagged
Lucky enough to get one of the 1,600 tickets we have been given for Shrewsbury and that game now beats Leicester as our most local derby game of the season, with all the West Midlands and Staffs clubs now lower division teams
The rule is something I totally agree with. It is about entertainment, and scoring goals is a big part of that, as Saturdays game proved.
Yes it gives some advantage to the attack, but sooner that than advantage to the defence.
I think since we beat Liverpool and the 4th round draw was made most Wolves fans have developed an appetite for a cup run. So I don’t think Nuno will field a weak team but one or two may be rested given we play West Ham only 3 days later. I could certainly see Moutinho being given a breather

I was running the line for my lads team weekend before last, there was a big hoof forward from home side with one of their lads a good few yards offside. however I waited to put the flag up as there was no guarantee that he was going to touch the ball first, so after two bounces and 5 or 6 seconds had elapsed, the offside lad eventually caught up with the ball so I put the flag up. The young ref looked at me as if I was mad as the kid was now surrounded by defenders and not in a offside position as such. Ref then must have assumed I was biased and completely ignored me for the rest of the game

Jammy get. I went to the pre-season game there before start of last season, I should have priority !!
The cup game is sold out so no ticket for me. I should have been given special dispensation as the Shrewsbury ground is the nearest league ground to my home (only about 60 miles).
Never mind the offside rule, change the ticket allocation rules now.

Pretty embarrassing for Leicester fans that.
The offside rules have been changed many times since Association Football has been with us, but I have to say that the current rules are somewhat ambiguous.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"Offside is one of the laws of association football, codified in Law 11 of the Laws of the Game. The law states that a player is in an offside position if any of their body parts, except the hands and arms, are in the opponents' half of the pitch, and closer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent is usually, but not necessarily, the goalkeeper).[1]
Being in an offside position is not an offence in itself, but a player so positioned when the ball is played by a teammate can be judged guilty of an offside offence if they become "involved in active play", "interfere with an opponent", or "gain an advantage" by being in that position."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
So it could be argued that Jota was in an offside position when Neves played the ball to Jimenez, who was clearly onside. When Jimenez runs towards goal and passes to Jota (who is now behind the ball), can he be deemed as a) involved in active play and b) gaining an advantage?
I think it was Bill Shankly who made that quote about players being on the pitch when involved in offside decisions.

I may well have been in an offside position when the tickets came on sale but I wasn’t interfering with anyone
Despite the fact that we play West Ham the following Tuesday, I see no real need to 'rest' players on Saturday.
Last season we played several Tuesday games with the same starting 11 as the previous Saturday and the lads proved themselves fit enough to do that.
It could however be argued that the opposing team had also played on the Saturday before as well, so that kind of leveled the playing field so to speak.
For this game I would go back to 3 up front and switch Dendoncker and Saiss. Also think Ruddy deserves a game as he played better against Liverpool than Patricio did against Leicester.
Ruddy
Bennett...Coady....Dendoncker
Doherty...Neves...Saiss...Jonny
Traore...Jimenez...Jota

I wouldn’t make wholesale changes, but would play the first teamers who wouldn’t start against West Ham.
Costa, Cav, Adama, MGW, Vinagre and Ruddy should all have a chance of starting. We need to keep these guys up to speed as they all have a role to play before the end of the season. They should all be good enough to see off Shrewsbury given they won the Championship last year.
