No sane club would take out a guy that the players and fans adore and whilst results are great would they? No guarantee Poch, Zidane etc comes in and even does as well as Ole has so far. It could even go the other way.
Obviously we're going to lose a game or two before May. It's inevitable. But if Ole keeps them on the front foot and playing like we have been doing we're going to win a lot more than we lose.
Save the £50m....and give it to Ole to go towards bringing in a top quality player or two.

DOF only works if there is a steady stream of coaches capable of and happy to work in the way the DOF dictates (playing style and players signed)

Oh. Its based on fact.
Oh. Its based on fact.

To which you will be able to supply, so off you go.
Say we appoint a DoF who wants to play with wingers and a big CF and build a squad capable of playing that way. You then have to appoint a coach happy to play that way. Then when that coach moves on you have to find another happy to play that way OR replace the DOF, make significant signings and allow the new coach to coach the squad how he wants to play.
For me the answer is to make better managerial appointments than we have post Fergie
Also, would you be OK if we missed the opportunity to appoint the next Fergie or Pep because they didn't want to work under a DoF?
You are just waffling now.

And we need a DoF in place to liaise with Ed and the board in doing that.
Or we will just keep on making the same mistakes.

Because having a DoF at the club is more important that us hiring a hypothetical manger who might or might not be the next Fergie or Pep.

Whoever Utd get, there is a need for the Board to back the manager. Not financially, but in terms of backing and reinforcing his authority. Certain team members were in open revolt against Jose and while they may feel justified it should not be tolerated. It shows that not only is the manager not in control but also the Board lack authority. Right now, if Fergie was still in power, some players would be sent packing. Fergie would make this clear and the Board would back him.
Chelsea are an example of a cycle of managers who succeed but then in adversity the players return to type and down tools. The manager pays the price. This will continue until the players are allowed to undermine authority in this way.
From the outside, your Board seem to be a bit clueless in their decision making
Until they rule you can only sign new coaches during the transfer windows the coaches will be sacked ahead of any player.
