There is no "game in hand but"..its just a game in hand which we pretty much dont have to lose, even a draw means we go top
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, and if city draws they go top again. Fact is, slip up once and City are on top and only have to match your results to win it. You need to win your 13 remaining matches. Pressure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No we can win 12 and draw one as it stands.
If we have our big players fit then I am confident of a result at OT.
Winning there could set us up nicely for the title.....wouldn't that be marvellous. Esp since utd vs city will be due....and what a paradox for utd supporters.
I’m feeling smugly optimistic about the scousers rocking up at OT.
They are faaaar too overconfident, and we are bang in form.
Cannot wait. Something tells me it will be meltdown central post match.

There will be no overconfidence here. We will want to turn up and do a professional job.
It’s not really a paradox. Most United fans would rather City win the title.
The truth of Liverpool's meltdown in numbers.
Points difference with Man City after each fixture, since Liverpool went top:
M16 - 1
M17 - 1
M18 - 4
M19 - 7
M20 - 4
M21 - 4
M22 - 4
M23 - 4
M24 - 5
M25 - 3
Should Liverpool win on Saturday, City would have made up just one point in the last seven games.
I really really really hope Man City win the league. I was cheering for Liverpool, but their fans have ruined it.

I get the point (and I don’t view it as a meltdown either) but you only need to add one game onto that to then make it four points, which if it was replicated again (seeing as there’s more than seven games left) would be enough to flip positions. I know you don’t have to play us again, but then every game in March and April is different to what goes on before, it’s why it’s always been said it’s when the title is really won.
I still think you’ll edge it though as I think that gap will widen this weekend, partly as a consequence of us having to play the extra game this week and Chelsea having the full week to prepare for it.

Why what have they done this time?
Think jlou is basing it on being from match 18 (4 points) to match 25 (3 points should Liverpool best Bournemouth).
It’s an arbitrary number of games he’s chosen however. Any one could pick any number of games in order to conclude a different point and that point would be just as valid. Be it City closing the gap from 7 points to (possibly) 3, 1, or zero depending on the Bournmouth game. Or even choosing a ten game period to point out that Liverpool could have extended their lead over that time (again assuming they beat Bournemouth).
It’s an arbitrary number of games he’s chosen however
=========================================
We could chose a 10 game period.
Which would show City dropping 12 points, compared to Liverpool's 7.
The point is, any talk of Liverpool bottling it, or crumbling under pressure, is palpable nonsense.
I actually heard a pundit on 5 live, describing City's recent form as being fantastic, and firing on all cylinders, while Liverpool were looking shaky.
This was less than a week after they had been beaten by Newcastle.😀
That’s exactly my point jlou. I agree with you.
Yes all the talk of bottling is strange , we win tomorrow which we should and city might well drop points again v Chelsea and the gap widens . Long way to go yet and .neither city or Liverpool are entirely convincing at the moment
For me Liverpools last 4 games after Chelsea at home are going to be the most difficult ones. Your games away to Cardiff, away to Newcastle and at home to Wolves could be tricky especially if the first 2 are not safe. Its harder for managers to mentally prepare players for the easier games at the end of the season unlike big games where players self-motivate themselves. If Fergie can lose a 7 point gap with 5 games left so can any other team including this Liverpool side.
The fact that Liverpool are not loosing is irrelevant as the title winner simply has to maximise as many wins as they can in a tight title race.
This race is similar to the Rodgers camapign. Too difficult to call at this stage

Bottling is winning when you are kinda expected to, when the pressure is on. Both teams have bottled it recently (City against Newcastle & liverpool against Leicester & Westham)
Both games were not free hits and both teams came up short. Liverpool drawing instead of losing will only be relevant if they win the title.
I am surprised people expect Chelsea to get points from City. I know they are a top 6 team and anything can happen but its like people have forgotten how pathetic chelsea were at an injury depleted Arsenal.
Forget Higuain, City playing a highline he will be isolated. I will be shocked if Chelsea gets a point there.
