Great news. It really is an exciting time for England, we have an abundance of excellent young players coming through.
Never heard of him. Best young defensive mid in the world for me.

Yeah definitely good news, hopefully we can keep progressing
What a messed up system. How can you represent one country then play for another. Shouldn't be allowed absolute farce. Next he will want to play for the womens team and have a gender change

better get it repaired then.
Does anybody else think you should only be allowed to represent a country if one of your parents is from that country? Going back to grandparents seems a bit silly.
This will go down well in Ireland. Traitor

Abolish the granny rule.
Abolish the 5 year residence rule.
Abolish the friendlies don't count rule.
England don't have much midfield talent so pretty easy decision. If he was a striker or wide player then it may have been a tougher decision.
He's English so it makes sense
Have the FA agreed to loan him back to RoI until next season?
This explains it
In December 2018, Rice met with new Ireland manager Mick McCarthy and his assistant, Robbie Keane. McCarthy said that Rice was a potential future captain of Ireland and that he would build the team around Rice should he decide to play for the country. On 13 February 2019 Rice pledged his future to England.
Good player is young Declan
Apparently McCarthy asked him to play full-backstop.
“This has been an extremely difficult decision,” he said.

Rice is just trying to curry favour with the Irish here.
First we took their potatoes and now we take their Rice.
To be fair it is the correct decision, with him being English and all
Walks straight into the starting 11 for England

There’s a grain of truth in that.
Was more than just straight choice between England and RoI.
Apparently his naan is Indian.

Pretty sure there’s a Chilean Rice too?
As an Irishman of course I hoped he’d declare for us but can totally understand why he’s chosen England.
He’s more English than Irish and let’s be fair when you compare Sancho, Rashford, Kane, Alli, Sterling etc. to the dross we have you can totally get his decision.
No hard feelings and best of luck to him.
