Just seen Rob Jones saying 'more of the same' on the offical site - talking about Saturday's game against Exeter. Let's hope that more of the same extends to the selection as well, since when he's on the pitch it's guaranteed we'll concede at least 2..

Seriously, though, what makes this geezer thing he's gonna play?!

everytime Rob Jones comes out says "More of the same" we usually lose the next game. Heres to a tonking on Saturday!

I don't know why he doesn't keep his mouth shut; all these rallying cry stuff is pathetic given our defensive record since he's been at the club.

We're playing a team who haven't yet scored away from home this league season - if we don't beat them it's nothing but 2 points dropped.

TBF, Rob Jones is club captain so if anyone is going to be coming out saying these things then it'll be him!

Having said that, I really don't rate him & would perfer Reda to play.

As far as Lowe/Madine, I agree they could be a good partnership although I'd still be concerned about a lack of pace. I'm hoping we can get McGoldrick on the full 93 days & then if all's going well look to extend it til the end of the season in January. COG coming back to fitness will help aswell, competition for places aswell as offering something a little different.

Madine, the highest scorer in the league partnered with a ceritfied goal machine.

Now for a decent CB partnership and we're cruising!

Reynolds and Reda for me - Batth is going back in January anyway and Jones I just do not like. They can't do any worse than those 2 clowns..

Buxton & Reda once Semi's back?

Yeah whatever - I just don't like Jones and Batth.

Megson will never drop either though, even though he was at pains to point out that certain other players can;t play 'cos when they did last season we let a few goals in.

Megson likes his height so any talk of Buxton and Reynolds ever getting in the CB position is nonsense.

Jones hasnt been great this season but I think hes getting some undeserved critisism.

Batth on the otherhand has looked very unstable and nervous since the 2nd game of the season. His inexperience is starting to show.

Reda Johnson is like a child playing with matches, hes just an accident waiting to happen. The guy could be a brick wall for 85mins and then have 5mins of absolute mayhem where I wouldnt be surprised if he smashed the ball in his goal, breaking nicky weavers legs in the process.

Id be tempted to see Reynolds play with Jones, he deserves a chance

Lets not make Jones the new Darren Purse can we?

That worked out really well last year.

posted on 21/9/11

Jones isn't good enough to be the new Darren Purse!

As for Reda, yes he can look like an accident waiting to happen but how often does it actually happen & how many times has he really cost us??

He's pretty much the equal of Jones in the air but he's quicker & more mobile when the ball's on the ground & he's capable of recovering when/if he does make a mistake!

Lets play the new kid ? At least give him a go !

I think Jones is a good captain. Im not sure who could fill that role if he was out the team. Certainly not Reda.

Could Prutton do it?

I know who GM's 1st choice would be after Jones. All hail the Ginger chicken mr O'Connor!

I agree, poite & unfortunately that's why he was straight back in the side after getting dragged off during the Stevenage debacle!

Buxton has had the captaincy when Jones has missed games this season I think & that's fine by me although he's not the loudest!

I'd like to see JOC left back ...

... in the dressing room.

If JOC was busy shouting at his players, perhaps he wouldn't get caught out of position as often.

I think as captain Jones has to do a piece on the OS just like he does in the match program, to be fair they are usually full of cliches and positive statements, but what else would he say!!

As regards the back 4, I would have Reda in everytime over Jones and Baath

posted on 21/9/11

the players would get sick of hearing JOC saying "y'know" every 3 seconds. Even I turn him off when hes interviewed

Sorry, damn sausages for fingers pressed send!!!

I was going to say that Reda is the strongest and most physical defender we have and that alone will seriously disrupt the strikers he is marking. He is also as good as Jones at set pieces and will grab goals.

I would actually have beevers back and put him in there as well but in his abscence I would leave batth in there. Buxton has become a no brainer at RB but LB continues to be a problem. Bennett looks good going forward and his long throw causes all sort of problems but he is maybe too happy to attack!! Reynolds I think deserves more playing time at LB, he has not done bad in his games so far.

What if we played 3 CH and pushed the full backs up the pitch as both of them look good going forward. This would let Marshall or Lines to have a free role behind the front two, might be worth a shot.
