Is there any point in going through?
The problem is, and I said this before, but they have frightening pace on the counter. I know theybse 10th in Ligue 1, but stylistically, they are a problem for us because they have players to exploit all our vulnerabilities.
We will need to score 2 goals and not concede to go through which I don’t see happening. So we will need to score at least 3, which means we will have to play an expansive, attacking game. That will suit them down to the ground as they have the speed to pick us off on the counter.
I’m not saying we won’t qualify, but it is going to be a mammoth task.

---------------------------------------------------
The plan was working - You were in full control at 0-1. The red card ended you cold. You couldn’t commit players forward. Shape was harder to maintain. Rennes went full throttle and caused your team issues.
It’s really not that surprising the red card wasn’t the result of a stupid challenge or violent conduct. Sokratis got booked twice because he was well beaten in play by Ben Arfa and Sarr respectively
Great Red Shark,
The problem was we WERE committing men forward when we were down to 10 men. That’s how the 3rd goal happened, because Monreal was caught miles up the pitch when he shouldn’t have been. Sarr had him on toast the whole night, though.
It was the worst in game management I’ve seen from a side who is one man down.
However, the two yellow cards for Sokratis would not have happened if Xhaka didn’t cheaply give the ball away in a dangerous area of the pitch and Mustafi gifting possession to one of their fastest players.
We played right into their hands even with 10-men and that’s the most frustrating thing.
Total tactical naivety.
We struggle against teams that are quick and play on the counter
Teams like United have been beating us for years with that model.
I said before this tie that this game was a 50/50. Our level as a club as dropped massively in the last 2-3 years.
This is still a very poor squad that is imbalanced m and lacking quality in more than one area.
You have a chance Sunday because of our injuries. Had we got the full side I would fear for you given our form, I really would.
Reckon it may end up 1-1 or even 2-2 again which I'd take tbh.
Even Fergie or Pep would struggle with Wengers mess of a team.

A draw doesn’t help us. If we’d beaten Spurs like we should have done, a point against you would be fine.
But, as it is, if we want to finish in the top 4, we have to find a way of winning the game, which unfortunately I do not think we will.

Won't Aubameyang save us like he has done many times the season?
He scored against them at The Emirates when we last played them...
Just a shame our defence let us down, which is what I've been saying, and on tonight's evidence, is clearer than ever.
Will you acknowledge it though? Will you fack.
I still think we'll go through, mentally we can go into it with nothing to lose and knowing we have to attack, if we get the first goal all the pressure will be on them. If we keep a clean sheet we should easily go through but even if they score we can score 4 or 5 against them if we play well.

Aubameyang was non existent today and was as poor as the defence. He is a quality player but is letting us down when it matters most. Had to rely on Iwobi for a goal ffs. Will you acknowledge that

Attack with whom?
They will have their striker all back and hit us on the counter.
I thought after going down to 10 men we would have got everybody behind the ball but we were repeatedly exposed by a team 10th in their league
Rennes put their damn hand on a dead mans gun, big mistake, and they’ll pay for that at the Emirates

Scored a tap in the cup but practically invisible for the remainder.
When he joined us in Jan last season, he also did fack all against the big teams.
Weak on the ball, shocking link up play and if he isn't scoring tap ins, his performance looks even worse
Auba really needs to step up in the replay against Rennes. We rely on him to get through to the next round.
If we are going out he plays a big part of Arsenal not being in the CL next season.
I remember when Auba first signed for you guys, I thought what a great signing. A couple of days later I heard a German sports journalist on the radio who said in the box he's lethal but other than that offers nothing. Looks like he was correct.
Let's single out Auba even though we conceded 3 and played 50 mins with 10 men. Ok.
we will go through easily. Rennes are awful away from home. Expecting at least a 4-0 win
We were creating chances with ease 11v11 and could have been 2 or 3 up. I fully expect us to score more then 2 goals.
What really annoyed me was the game management. When down to 10 men who plays like that with 1-2 mins to go. Monreal deserves fining for that shambolic piece of play. Wtf didn't he just bring the twit down instead of having a fit for losing the ball.
And where the fack where the rest of the team? Having a party in the Rennes half. Bunch of dimwit.
Don't get me started of Aubamayang. He's been poor for about 2-3 months now. For someone with so much so called pace he doesn't half use it.
We had Giroud who was slow as chit but could hold up the ball now now we have Auba, a CF with so much pace but he can't hold onto the ball. Wtf is wrong with us.
