Arrogant and complacent... in a bad way

"I think it's good now [that we're in a battle for the top four] that people now are going to realise our real level and maybe stop with the perception," he continued.

"That showed that we still have a lot of work to do, that showed we are not mature enough, that showed that to be in the last level you need more effort, you need more quality, to increase your capacity of commitment.

"We are fighting against big sides. We had a big gap - welcome to the reality - and we are under pressure to win games. It is a massive challenge for us."

The above are all quotes... Who speaks like this?

It really does seem like things with poch are not right. Hes never spoken like this before

It’s 1 of 2 things.

He’s off to Madrid... or

He’s been told to sell some top players to bring in funds for transfers.

There’s no other reason for his recent swing in attitude.

It does feel like you've reached a point where parting company with Pochettino would be the best thing for both club and manager. Even if you were to turn it round and win all your remaining league games this season something isn't right. He might not be the guy to take you that final step, then it becomes a question of how ambitious you are. The pressure Solskjaer's putting on the United board to hire him is a real spanner in the works because Poch going there next season looks like the best outcome for all parties involved, including United.

Just my outside opinion. Spurs & Poch remind me a bit of Ranieri & Chelsea. No-one can doubt Ranieri did some fantastic things for us, but when push came to shove (with or without the Roman investment) he just wasn't the guy who'd ever take us to that elite level. To compete with Fergie's United & Arsenal's Invincibles we needed that serial winning mindset manager and we got him, Spurs feel like that's all they're missing.

Poch essentially told the truth, which too few managers do these days. Spurs lost a game that most of his players thought was already won.

Good he's called the players out. Do. You think any manager, tells a team at half time to switch off and give less in a game. Players just dont take every game seiously

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He called them out after the Burnley game and we then served up the dross we did against Chelsea a few days later. Pathetic.

Statements such as ""I think it's good now [that we're in a battle for the top four] that ** PEOPLE now are going to realise our real level ** and maybe stop with the perception" aren't targeted towards the players.

We need to read what this is all actually saying.

The second paragraph comes across as a message to Levy / the board...
"That showed that we still have a lot of work to do, that showed we are not mature enough, that showed that to be in the last level you need more effort, YOU NEED MORE QUALITY, to increase your capacity of commitment.
Yet even "we are not mature enough" sounds like it is to the team.
Poch has literally gone off on everyone here. The writing is on the wall, what he is saying here is evident. Sounds like he's cutting his ties. He's done.

There is something very wrong at spurs at the minute. The manager cannot motivate the players. There is no way that team should be losing to Burnley and Southampton in the space of a fortnight. It’s not arrogant to say spurs squad is lots stronger than those two clubs. The desire wasn’t there and the manager could not raise it. He has also now been shown up tactically by sari, Hasenhüttl, Dyche and emery. I think maybe the players and the manager are not as good as they think they are. I wonder how many united fans still want Poch?

It is a clear evidence of a repeated poor last 45 min mental block/strength, lack of concentration, and ineffective in-game management. It is surprising that your title challenge withered away first, but again, the top 4 is now under serious threat.

You're a different animal in the CL all together because the players know they have to bring their ultimate flawless game for the full 90 minutes, and the poor start put them backs against the wall. Players grown complacent with the league - not good enough to win it, but underestimated and figured the top 4 was easily in the bag.

Stat: 12 points lost from winning positions this season, none of those teams you've thrown points away against are currently in the top 4.

I suppose Pochettino knows his players well enough to know when they are not taking the game seriously enough. But you would also have thought any eleven players would know the importance of getting a second goal!
Are they really dummies?
Not all of them, surely - Kane always works hard. So does Son.
Pochettino made some mistakes - not bringing Son, Lamela and Llorente on early enough - it must have been clear after minute 55 that the momentum had changed from the first half?
Truer Danny Rose was mostly responsible for their first goal, but even so he was playing attacking footy and should have stayed on in preference to Davies.
I think Levy is going to have to make some promises about buying players in order to keep his manager.

Poch is piling the blame in the players. Classic case of a manager knows his days are numbered. Own your own mess Poch.

Poch has obviously had words with Daniel Levy, and knows his time is up, and rightly so, five years with the best set of players Spurs have had and won nothing, and now going backwards. Pretty obvious the project has finished.

You've overreached your expectations. It's that simple. He's done an ok job considering the lack of investment, Wembley, Levy etc. Top four or thereabouts is exactly what should be expected. Anything greater is just desperate, hopeful blinkered fanboy nonsense.

Poch , about time he had a pop . Im glad his said this, hopefully levy will get his check book out and facking back him. I'm fed up watching certain players stroll about thinking there better than they are, im fed up with having to look at our bench and having to rely on Llorente to come on and lose every header.

If poch fackd off i wouldn't blame him.

Edward it might actually be better if Poch had not rested two of his better defenders. Nobody to blame but himself for yesterday.

Sandy, you have recently created an article and i actually agree with all of it.

of course the team has become complacent and arrogant. the club has said there's nobody out there than can improve the starting 11 and without proper competition for places there's no chance of improvement....,this season should not come as a surprise to anyone. It's a total shambles. The club has lost sight of what is important and everyone is responsibility. Lewis for not adding additional investment during a transition period, Levy for obsessing over the stadium and generally bring a prlck over transfers, Poch for not demanding additions to the squad and for some bizarre and unnecessary rotation and the the players for being complacent and quite frankly unprofessional..... A mess from top to bottom which could have been easily and sensibly addressed last summer ..... you reap what you sow

the Aresenholes may well beat us for 3rd spot.
One hope left for Spurs fans is the Champions League. Can this team make the Semis?
I blame levy & Lewis for not bringing in at least two top players last August. Now we will need four or five for next season.
As for Sandy's silly comments ........
If Pochettino goes it will be because he's had enough of Levy & Lewis and has a better offer at the Bernabeu.
And I will not blame him one bit ... Good Luck Pochettino!

As a long time Spurs fan, I might have been tempted to do just that many times over the years!
But I have learnt to live with dashed hopes year after year.
However, if the Spurs team that played at Dortmund last week can beat ManCity ........
