All that says to me is that over a fairly reasonable period (half a season, decent stint going by current PL manager standards), our new manager has got us performing at a similar level to the sides in the title race.

This isn’t actually a bad thing then. Near enough same points total as Liverpool which would mean either they are both doing really well, or both doing really poor. And I doubt you’d say Liverpool have been really poor so...

Things showed no signs of being turned around, so if we were 19 behind when Ole took over, I reckon we'd be 38 points behind them by now id we'd have kept Jose.

To be fair I'd use this stat more to laugh at the media for saying things like we're bottling the title race than I would at United.

United have dropped 7(?) points in something like 12 games so to have gotten more points than them is pretty impressive on our end considering we're supposedly imploding.
