A shorter tournament with a 2 session final really does suit Ronnie, he can play top level snooker and it doesn't take much out of him, but in a marathon event like the WC, Ronnie's concentration can go and he finds it hard to perform over such a long distance. It usually is the case that the 'cream rises to the top', but Ronnie just doesn't work like that. So if Ronnie isn't quite on it and not steam-rollering opponents, he finds the WC a struggle - not just this year, but for the last few seasons he hasn't performed to expectation

Many people will disagree, but I think the WC format should be slightly tweaked, not so that it becomes a sprint, but so there is a gradual build-up of length of matches, especially the 2nd round, where there are often a lot of one-sided matches.
1st round - best of 17
2nd round - best of 19
QF - best of 25
SF - best of 31
Final - best of 35
Would just keep the players a little bit fresher, and maybe produce some better matches.

I hope Murphy wins it about time Smurf won it again

Robbo and Trump the in form players

Shouldn’t really right off the old guard Williams and Higgins either

To be fair Ronnie did look like he had some sort of bug you could see the fatigue and drainage written over his face

I actually think the cream does rise to the top, if he's losing early over the most important event in the calendar, he is not dealing with the pressure as well as others.

I always felt the best Ronnie was the one winning the titles, yes he was inconsistent, but I always felt he could perform anywhere.

Now, yes he's done well and padded out his career with some amazing titles, but to do it when the pressure is on in the biggest event, that's the best Ronnie in my eyes.

kinsang, I always preferred the best of 31 semi-finals, see no need to have Best of 33 semis.

I would've had:
1st round - best of 19
2nd round - best of 21
QF - best of 25
SF - best of 31
Final - best of 35

Thing is Ronny will be paid a fortune now to commentate

Last time Ronnie lost in 1st round of world championship was 2003 against Marco Fu, he still made a 147 that day though and the prize money for it back then was a lot!

Yeh Ronnie seems to love the commentary side, plus all the other stuff he’s got going on, swear he’s got a cool book coming out next week too? Just seems to always have too many other things going on away from Snooker he is what you’d call a celeb snooker player these days in contrast to the others who are just snooker players

Not great start from Judd, was 3-1 down but made a good 141 break to get it back to 3-2.

Judd 6-3 down he'll do well to come back from this, just have to hope tomorrow is another day and things turn around but this is worrying.

Obviously Trump could come back, but funny how beforehand everyone was saying what a tough quarter that was with the winner of Ding v Trump to meet Ronnie..... 2 of them mightn't even make the 2nd round! Nothing is predictable in sport

He'll be alright, that other guy is $hit, Trump usually has poor 1st sessions, wouldn't surprise me if it was 10-6 blitz

Stephen Hendry is such a khunt aint he that Cahill reached out to him before the tournament for some advice etc and if he could meet up for a quick chat (He's aunt used to be married to Henry), and Hendry was just like na not interested then just blanked him

To be fair Hendry's always been an arrogant khunt anyway can see it all over his face, plus swear he beat a woman up after being drunk too

What is Judd playing at, At this rate Selby won't have any bother getting out of this side of the draw, maybe his Quarter final opponent, could be Allen

Henry never had enough longevity to be considered one of the best

Wow, Dott putting up some fight against Bingham, from 8-1 down, now 9-7. Bingham loses the latest frame on the 3-miss rule

posted on 23/4/19

Can't believe Bingham did that can Dott actually pull this off?
