Thought we'd play a full strength team when we've just left everything on the pitch mid week and barely have 11 fit players to start
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kane, Sissoko, Lamela and Aurier all out. Winks and Dier face a late fitness test.
Wanyama has rarely started this season due to injury.

Lamela is a complete waste of space, surely he has to be moved on next season.

I really don't see the logic here. What has Liverpool fans saying resting players for the CL meant Liverpool finished fourth instead of fifth got to do with Spurs potentially dropping out of the top four if they lose after resting players?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You mean 3rd instead of 4th?
Why do Liverpool fans care if Spurs finish fourth or fifth?
They shouldn't.
But because you are in a two way fight to win the league and we're playing City - suddenly it's outrageous to rest players
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes.
They don't care. I don't see the relevance.
You suggested a hypocritical situation, there isn't one. You could miss out on top four by resting players, we couldn't, which is why we did it. You can't afford to do that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Certain Liverpool fans are outraged we might rest players v City.
Liverpool fans last year thought resting players to get to the CL final was the correct decision.
It doesn't matter that we may finish 5th - it makes zero difference to Liverpool.
I'm also 100% certain these Liverpool fans wouldn't be outraged if we were resting players v Brighton.
Resting players is now wrong - because we are playing City, who you are desperately trying to finish ahead of.

The funniest thing about this whole resting players debate is that, unlike with Man Utd, the pundits and media won't make any speculation on it. and will probably be surprised if Spurs do rest players.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
They won't rest too many players. Son is banned from the first leg, no point resting him. Lucas has been rotated the whole season and Llorente has been on the bench. All three could start up front which would be a good front three. The defence hardly need resting as Alderweireld has been rotated the whole season, as well as the full backs. It's only really midfield that's a concern. Alli only came back recently after missing a load of games, so he'll likely start. Wanyama may play for an hour or so, leaving one spot, which could go to Skip, if Dier or Winks don't make it. That's if Eriksen is rested, which he needs to be in my opinion.

Hypocrites
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think anybody is outraged. Anything I have seen is people saying Spurs can't afford to rest players to the extent suggested by some Spurs fans as it could cause them to miss out on top four. This is a completely different situation to the one Liverpool were in, when it cost us one position, which gave us the same outcome.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can Spurs afford fatigued players to get injuries?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didnt say they could or the couldn't. You keep bringing irrelevant scenarios into the mix. You suggested a hypocritical situation, there isn't one as both situations are completely different as your situation could cause you to miss out on top four, ours caused us to drop a position. We wouldn't have rested players if we were in your position, to the extent we did. I doubt you will rest players to the extent some of your fans believe either.

I suggested a hypothetical question, which you won't answer.
If Spurs finish 4th and reach the CL final, will we have had a better season than Liverpool finishing 2nd and getting dumped out of the CL in the semi's?
It's a simple yes or no

Nope
After all, reaching the final means nothing unless you win the actual thing, right?

Didn't see that question but definitely. Same outcome in the league but a CL final.
I'd suggest Liverpool fans would be happier however considering the title challenge and the strength of the squad, the direction we are heading. It's a little bit different than Spurs sneaking into third at the last second.

The funniest thing about this whole resting players debate is that, unlike with Man Utd, the pundits and media won't make any speculation on it. and will probably be surprised if Spurs do rest players.
