I'm only just coming round after Fridays "Griff" session.

A number of comments regarding Keogh's culpability in the goal - he wasn't - but no comments at all on his brilliantly headed goal. Or on those who predicted him to score

My biggest gripe with RK is his body language immediately after we concede, (well that and sorting his feet-out at corners).

Match facts

Derby have won their past four home league matches against QPR, winning each match without conceding a single goal.
QPR are winless in five Championship games against Derby (W0 D2 L3) since a 2-0 win at Loftus Road in March 2016.
Derby have won five of their past six league matches on Easter Monday (W5 D1 L0) - they won 1-0 last year on Easter Monday against Preston.
QPR have won none of their past 19 away league matches played on Monday (W0 D4 L15) since a 1-0 win at Swindon Town in January 2000 under Gerry Francis.
Derby are looking to win three straight home league games under Frank Lampard for the first time this season, having beaten Rotherham and Bolton in their last two such matches.
Tom Lawrence has scored three league goals against QPR, with two of those strikes coming in home matches for both Ipswich in November 2016, and for his current side Derby in November 2017.

Sounds like a nailed-on QPR win then?

Tom Lawerance hasn’t scored for 7 games. His average before he got injured at Ipswich was 1 goal in 5 games so he’s due to score on Monday. He’s abit like Jesus disappeared on good Friday but hopefully turns up on the bank holiday.

Scouse, let me know when your next away game is.
My brother won’t be able to make many away games next season as my nephew is moving up
To the 1st team squad at mickleover next season.

Keogh did the right thing against Brum for their opening goal. His only real option was to play the ball out for another corner. Just unlucky it was intercepted. Bogle was more at fault for their second goal.

HTF can letting the opposition score ever be classed as "doing the right thing". That must be one of the most stupid things you've ever typed, (and that's saying something)?

Try wearing a hat next time you go out in the sun Spart.

Scouse, Keogh was facing the goal when the ball dropped down to him. The only place he had to clear was to play the ball out for a corner. He had to be careful not to mishit the ball which could have led to an own goal so he directed the ball out. Just unlucky that the ball was intercepted. 99 times out of a hundred the ball would gone out of play.

We could say the same about Waghorn's goal. Lobbed volleys seldom find their target.

"........... he had to be careful not to mishit the ball............."

I'd stop now if I were you Spart, the hole is getting deeper.

Stop talking like a tw@. Yes he could have hit the ball harder but had he tried a big lump in to row Z there is a chance of an own goal. He made the right decision but didn't get the break.

With respect to all posters I thought at the time it was VERY poor from Keogh and having watched it 6 times since it doesn’t get any better.

I firmly believe he panics under pressure and, as history shows, it often let’s him down.

Sport is often about confidence and I believe he lacks that at critical times. He had to make any contact with the ball (travelling towards him at a relatively easy hight and pace) and he didn’t.

Baz, whilst I would defer to you in matters footy - "panics under pressure"? Remember that penalty?

He had time to think about that, pick his spot, and as a professional international footballer kick it in the right direction with relative ‘precision’ .

Ps I didn’t mind the bloke, I’m not ‘anti’. He gives 110% for the cause and I’ll get behind anyone who puts it all in for the cause

I just find it rather baffling what players are unable to do at times and I think pressure and their mentality plays a part.

Seen him do worse and get away with it. Wembley he chose to play the ball instead of booting it up the field as far as possible. At Birmingham he chose to play the ball. Against Soton at home he could have left Redmond's shot to go out but I can see why he thought he had to play it.

Thought he made the right choice against Brum but sometimes doing the right thing doesn't have the expected result.

Bogle was definitely at fault for the second goal. Just didn't control the ball.

The baffling thing for me is we have 4 good defenders playing the moment. Cole his record speaks for himself, Keogh has been playing week in week for Derby for nearly 7 years, tomori and bogle look very good prospects. So why can’t we defend week in week out. Why are set pieces an issue against us?

posted on 21/4/19

Because none of the 4 plus the keeper know how to organise a p up in a brewery!

Afternoon all. Just back from my little holiday, 7 hour drive I'm pretty fried right now. Happily I have the rest of the week off work to reset.

Most teams are taller on average than we are. Given that I think we are generally decent enough at defending set pieces, or I did think that before Friday. As has been pointed out we are not a physically strong team and get shoved off the ball too easily all over the pitch. At corners teams can block off markers or the keeper to make space for others. Elsewhere on the pitch we can be flimsy and when the passing is off we struggle to keep hold of the ball. Only Johnson and maybe recently Waghorn has what you might call strength to withstand a bit of argy bargy. I don’t want a Pulis team but we need to be better at the basics.

Keogh does have a bit of panic in him, he always has. All footballers have weaknesses and sometimes it costs us. More often he prevents goals with blocks though. Tomori had a big panic in front of goal when he should have slotted in the winner on Friday. I wonder what the comments would have been if that had been Keogh.

I had to work all day yesterday so I’m looking forward to this. I’m hoping for starts for Huddz and Bennett and give Johnson and Lawrence some bench time. Maybe Evans for Bryson also.

Couldn’t have put it better myself, Vidal.

I also agree Brum did their homework and their corners were excellent well-rehearsed set pieces with intentional blocks.

Keough’s goal was also rehearsed with he short corner being played (twice) and then Cole’s out-swinger to the far post.

He often doesn’t win the header, gets blocked off or it sails straight out of play.
