Emery deserves a chance. First season was always going to be tough. Has a good chance of winning Europa.

The team is too tired because Emery has worked them hard and trained them well. This is the most deluded guff ever written on this site

Better manager that the selfish emperor Wenger you worship .
I said from beginning, finishing close to top 4 and going far in Europa would have been a decent start for a new manager with this team. I’d have taken that at start of the season. It could have gone much worse considering our circumstances. If he can somehow finish 4th or win Europa, that’ll be a great start.
We all knew it was going to be tough until a decent amount of this squad was turned around. We have to be patient until next season at very least. There are many this that need addressing, this will take time unfortunately
Totally agree.
Anyone who thinks it was going to be a simple fix to clear the mess Wenger left is delusional.
I expected 6th place but to be closer to the top 4 and do well in the EL.
So far we are exceeding my expectations and I think Emery has done a terrific job
I think a lot of people sense top 4 slipping away when it’s within our grasp. They fear that next season it’ll be harder so are probably getting frustrated and why they are now taking it out on the manager
In my opinion we will be a lot better next season and secretly opposition fans know this and are worried
Emery's not an elite manager, our style of play is basic and hasn't really progressed through the season. Team selections and constant formation changes are too random. He doesn't look like a Pep or Klopp who will get us playing exciting winning football, more like an Allardyce type manager... not a diss as I rate Allardyce but Emery isn't gonna get us winning leagues imo. He was brought in to get us top 4 either from the league or EL, he could still do both and there's not much point sacking him but I see him more as a stepping stone manager now to get back in the CL before we can go to the next level.

I always saw him and still do see him as a stepping stone manager. The reason is much the same as yours but also because:
1) there wasn’t a top level or an elite manager available last summer
2) it is better to have a stepping stone manager to take over from Wenger and then when the club has refreshed and turned a corner, the elite manager can come in an build us into a great team
However, the one thing I see holding is back is Stan Kroenke. There are going to be times when we need significant investment and I just can’t see him providing that.
All in all this time in 4 years we will have a different manager. That’s my prediction.

What exactly is an elite manager? One who is allowed silly money on mercaneries?
Unai has done a brilliant job in his first season.
Yes he made a few bizarre selections but what you see now is the effects of the Eupora league on a poor, and injury ravaged squad.

Having a very poor squad depth hasn’t helped at all. Soon as we’ve had to rotate, or have got injuries we are immediately into having to rely on very average players. There are many players we have who aren’t close to being top 4 quality. Being generous only a handful of our players would get picked for any top 4 team. Majority are Europa level at best, then rest would be lucky to play for any prem side, or are just youngsters. So it was always going to be tough without a major overhaul for a new manager to compete for top 4, and Europa. Plus add in the fact these players seem totally mentally fecked when playing away.
Even if we just get 5th and are 3/4 points off top 4, it’ll have been a solid first season with emery. Not great, but there is some progress. Hopefully we can see some of our absolute guff moved on, and a few players brought in over the summer. That should hopefully be enough to get some extra points next season and push us into top 4. I’d have taken that as a first season with a new manager, when you consider all the work that needs doing
Emery's job is to get us into the Champions League. We should judge him after the season ends.
