Wow, I have asthma but that’s bad, if nebuliser is in.

Are/were you a smoker?

posted on 27/4/19

Social smoker when younger
Dr's just say I'm unfortunate
COPD started 10yrs ago so now 58 with a body of 80 and lungs of 130
Started work in Victorian factories so hosiery and aspestos then when no work went building and retail so yrs of dust and carp and 20yrs around petrol 🤦🏻‍♀️

Multiple disabilities all playing off one another 🤷‍♀️
I've a couple of yrs before oxygen then I'll sort out my end of life plan as its hard enough now @ 40% lung capacity any less isent worth considering

posted on 27/4/19

Fack man, that’s harsh. Asbestos is awful stuff. I hope you get some good quality of life, 40% lung function is something most of us couldn’t imagine the strain that makes simple things hard, and that’s coming from an asthmatic who during an attack probably still has 70% + (speaking relative to the airways contracting rather than function).

Is there anything that they have that could help improve that? And I hope you at very least got a good payout for working with that stuff (wouldn’t surprise me if employers/authorities weaselled their way to not pay it though) So many folks have really serious issues after working with that stuff without almost bulletproof gear.

Oh, forgot to add, good luck for run in and next season.

I don’t think BR will go anywhere near repeating your majestic league win, but I think you’ll see some good attacking footy once he gets his signings, at the expense of defensive solidity.

No financial gains unfortunately, the factories are long gone along with the companies and building work in those days was cash in hand when you could find work,
Oxygen is the next step, I'm probably using most of the available drugs but that's not to say something new hasn't come on the market,
Spent the last 4 yrs fighting dwp and others ( took 12/18 months to get the basics)
and still chasing extra benefits for quality of life, or independent living as they call it,
Actually have someone coming to the house on Wednesday,
The day to day sh2te is the worst
20 minutes for a quick wash,
An hr to get ready to go out
Loo, tablets, shoes coat,
Can't shower to hard so have a carer now once a week,
Summer is OK I can spend 40 minutes washing in the shower and then drip dry
But then your knackered after,
Prep & Cooking diner 2 hrs
My neighbour who's married is 75 has copd not as bad as me
" how the f**k do you alone"
No choice, just the way it is,
But some days, some days are very dark
But I post on here usually under, ramblings of a grey haired fox
And the lads and lasses are very supportive and let me have non football related posts,
Got me children and live with my 3 rescue dogs
And there's always somebody worse off

Fair play to you, I really wish companies/corps and govt were held accountable for what happens with asbestos and other dangerous chemicals, when people are sent into work with them/strip out. They are these days I guess, but it doesn’t help people like yourself that spent time earning a living doing that before they belatedly realised the danger then spent ages doing sonething about it.

I hope it improves for you. No idea what drugs they are working on, but you’d hope in this day and age they have something that can help more. On footy- with a bit of luck Br can deliver you some success, there’s some very good young players in that team, chillwell and Maddison for a start, even if someone wants to buy them, they won’t be cheap. Hopefully in that case BR can invest wisely and bring you a success.

Got a soft spot for Leicester, still the greatest ever PL story, one that transcended sports and the world.

I can’t see anyone repeating it in this day and age of commercial nonsense.

It's just great to hear from you regularly Dubs so we can see you're still functioning. Feel free to unload on your issues if it's useful to share, it certainly helps me put into perspective what are my irritations - minor at best - which pale into tiny insignificance compared with what you have to put up with.

In regard to 7th spot, it's not looking likely we could overhaul Wolves, they will likely finish on 57 points (Fulham (H) W, Liverpool (A) L), we'd need to beat Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea to match that and improve our goal difference to achieve 7th . That position won't deliver Europa League football either if Watford beat Man City in the FA Cup final.

As bad as your description of daily life sounds, at least you're usually able to be at home. Keep going and I hope the footy talk is a good release for you, I'm sure your dogs must give you great support too.

Morning Dubs..... I have a friend whom has COPD, CHF and is on O-2 24/7. She did used to smoke like a fiend! She drinks wine like it is going out of fashion but hey who can blame her? Hope you feel better after your nap! 5am here in Florida.

Think we may win today but seems like our season is over!

posted on 28/4/19

Thanks Nuneaton, your probably right v 7th,
