Sick for the lad. He's become such an important player for us. Spurs through and through. Hopefully the injury won't effect him long term. He's had a few.
These injuries are so frustrating. If we had winks and Kane I would be very confident about tonight. The problem is we have no similar players to these two. In hindsight Grealish would have been a very good signing.
Saw this on bbc sport yesterday. What annoys me about Spurs is when our players are injured they sit on their hands for months in some bizarre hope that it will sort itself then months down the line realise it needs surgery. As far as I can think of we are the only team that does this, every other team sees the need for surgery and just gets on with it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kane needs ankle surgery but the club keep putting him off, hence the recurring ankle injuries.
Winks is another with constant injury problems, far, far too many of those type of players at Spurs now. Feel for him, but in the long run is he going to be of any use to Spurs if he is going to constantly being to pick up injuries. Need a major shake up next season.
we need 2 CMs. Winks, decent when fit, but at a young age is out a lot with injury already

Couldn't agree more - if we had a fit squad I'd be SO excited for tonight. Instead I'm very nervous and actually think we go in as underdogs.
Sandy - I just think that Winks has been unlucky with his injuries. The first major one was that freak ankle injury when he fell off the side of the pitch against West Ham. That caused him problems for almost a year. The groin is a nasty one because it lingers for so long.
Without these I think he'd have cemented himself as first choice CM by now. Just really unlucky, don't think we should write him off as a sicknote yet

Not writing him off just yet, but like you am so frustrated that yet another big semi-final, and we can barely put a team out on to the pitch. It happens every semi-final, never able to field our best team.
Tonight is a massive opportunity to get to the biggest club cup competition final in Europe. Like England at the World Cup, such an opportunity may not present itself again for a very long time. Not signing anyone is now not only looking silly but totally incompetent. Only spurs could be facing the biggest game in their history for nearly 60 years and barely be able to put a side out. Whilst I am delighted at the new stadium, whoever decided not to spend this year will have some serious questions to answer if we fall short tonight and next week.
Spurs need to understand that it’s great to be making lots of money but ultimately if the brand is no good, people will simply not follow it. They must improve the playing staff over the summer. And I don’t mean signing some unknown french winger on deadline day. I mean implementing a proper transfer policy, early, giving the full summer for the squad to work and prepare for next season. That may well mean spending a few bob.
Frustrated is definitely the word Sandy.
Just imagine how pumped we'd all be going into the game tonight with Kane, Son, Sissoko, Winks, a full bench... the confidence would be so high.
If we get through this tie it will one hell of an achievement.
I still think we can do it, but I'm very nervous.
Cacking it in truth. Our last few performances haven't filled me with confidence but COYS, to infinity and beyond....
In hindsight Grealish would have been a very good signing
why? Hes not a winks type player. Wouldnt be very good in a midfield 2 or as the deepest in a diamond, thats not his position.

its the dembele sale with no replacement that gets me. absolutely facking ridiculous
As if Levy will go out this summer and do swift clean business, it will be the same old same old, trying to drag every last penny out of every deal. You would like to think that our targets have been identified and had offers already, but to get deals done quickly often means you have to pay over the odds (see Pool) and that`s not how Levy does business.

Agreed. I couldn’t get my head round it at the time and it looks even worse now. I’ve got a horrible feeling that we may be thinking ‘what if’ after next week. What if, like Liverpool, we implemented a proper professional transfer policy that dealt with the shortcomings of our squad. I sometimes think our transfer dealing equates to going to TK Maxx the day before a night out in the hope you might get a decent designer shirt, but ultimately have to settle for some brand you’ve never heard of because you tried to go cheap.
it was just a bollox football decision. ridiculous infact. dier is having a pisssspoor season and never fit. at thetime wanyama was injured.. winks is young and injury prone... and so sissoko was our only proper CM....
I know dembele's game had fallen off a bit but hes still a good player ffs. absolute madness to sell and not replace.. not even a loan signing... nonsense.

Thing is we have a squad that has got us this far....you can't moan about a lack of signings if we fail to get through this tie because we do not lack numbers, we beat City with this squad, we just have a crippling injury list.
Imagine Liverpool missing Salah (Kane) and having Mane (Son) suspended...add to that Henderson and Milner coming back from long injuries (Dier & Wanyama) and Wijnaldum (Winks) injured and Fabinho (Sisokko) injured , Shaqiri (Lamela) also on the side lines injured. What would their line up even look like, they certainly would not be the force they have proved themselves to be.
They would struggle, they would not be competing for the title.
The one massive blunder we have made was letting Dembele go without replacing him. That we can be highly critical of. We lack quality ball retention in the middle of the park and we have struggled t control some games as a result.

He is in a tough positon re: Eriksen and Toby. Seems like these boys will go but unless someone really really wants them and prepared to pay top whack then the buyers will negotiate hard....time is on the buyers side as the longer the window goes on the closer these players get t the last year of their contract and the cheaper they become.
If someone offered £50m for Eriksen in June would you take it? Do you wait to see if there's a bidding war that might gain another £20m to £30m from the deal, and what do you do re: a replacement....can't do swift clean deal to replace him until he's gone and you know what money you have to play with. He might not go until August!
Sure Levy is a pain in the arris when it comes to transfers but ultimately it is almost impossible to get quick clean transfers through unless you are buying potential or just pay top whack to get a player in....the sort of top whack that blows competition out of the water. Unfortunately teams like Utd, Chelsea, City, Arsenal + Euro teams will all be looking at the same players as us and players will take their time to see whether anything better comes along.
