1 win and 4 losses in our last 5 league games. A jammy win that came courtesy of a Troy Deeney brain fart.
A degree of optimism is always welcome, but we were always going to struggle to collect any points from our final run of away games.
As much as Brighton and Burnley are still very winnable games, I still believe the Europa offers our best shot at CL football.
We need Chelsea to drop points and for us to win to put this fourth place back in our hands.

Europa offers a route through Valencia and Chelsea.
The PL offers one through Brighton and Burnley.
I don't see how Europa is our best shot.
Spurs will drop points against Everton its Chelsea who are harder to call. Think they might win all theirs, they'll turn Watford over for a start

It's not in our hands. Chelsea and Spurs still have it in their hands. But Chelsea play Watford at home and Leicester away. Any dropped points in any of those fixtures would put them in trouble. And Spurs-Everton on the final day is a toss-up to me considering their recent forms. I don't believe both will drop points, but I believe at least one of them will. And we have to do our job and be in position to take advantage.
Ideally, I hope it's Spurs that mess it up. Would give the greatest comedy value.

Does anything that's happened this season make any sense?
We steamrolled over Napoli over 180 minutes and kept Valencia at arms length at home. All of this superiority coming either side of 3 games where we conceded 3 goals to each of Palace, Wolves and Lesta.
Chelsea, Spurs both stuttering. We keep on getting second chances but getting over this patented Wenger mental fragility is not going to be easy.

I believe we will come through the Valencia tie. I've been confident of beating anyone else in this Europa, but Chelsea in my opinion would be favorites in the final. Their defense is not nearly as big a joke as ours is. And they have Hazard.
One hope is that Hazard has turned off and is now protecting himself against injury now that he is a Real Madrid player.

Hazard does have periods where his head and shoulders drop for Chelsea. But in the big games, he's still the one that drives the team. In a Europa final, he WILL turn it on.
No-one giving Frankfurt a chance then? Chelsea conceded 3 at home to Slavia so anything can happen there.

True. Its not going to be as easy as the media are making out.
We really needed Ramsey for these final matches of the season. They're the kind of matches where he turns up. I'm 100% certain we wouldn't have zero points from our last 3 matches if he was fit.
I won't miss those regular annoying hamstring injuries of his.

Our defensive mistakes and Xhaka were the cause for our last 3 defeats. Specifically the space left between Xhaka and our centre backs who don't need an excuse to feck up let alone being left unprotected.
Europa league would put us in pot 1 for the CL if we win it. Both would be nice but Europa has become a lot more attractive imo.
Champions League in any form is so, so important in how quickly we can flip the squad and rebuild.
Europa is a lot more attractive but these scuuubags still owe us 2 wins in the league. The way they have a collapsed over the last 2-3 weeks has been embarrassing
