That’s a different thing, though. You can’t go into a season with your squad and expect to compete with a team that has just accumulated 100 points, then complain when you don’t.

He isn't (hoping we improve) he's a United fan who hates us more than any other club. When we beat his club in last year's cup final he went on huge hate filled rants all summer

Not sure why he's lashing out at us again though, maybe because we have the CL place he thought his club had in the bag.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying here. At Chelsea we always aim to win the league. We always aim to compete. If we fall below the standard we have set for ourselves, then we've failed. We shouldn't then lower our standards to act like we haven't failed. That's what Wayne Bridge is saying and I agree with it.

Oh I do and by the same logic you are basically saying Mourinho has failed in his last four season's as a manager.

It doesn't matter how bad you think your squad is. You can always win the league title. Lester won the league. Sir Alex Ferguson teams which on paper weren't as strong as their rivals won the league. The point is the ambition to challenge is the one thing that ALWAYS has to be present. You shouldn't lower your standards because you don't think you're good enough. Even if you're not good enough, the ambition always has to be there and thats why this season has to be considered a failure.

No offence, but you won't go far in life with that attitude. The one thing that always has to be present mentally is ambition. The second you start accepting anything less than 1st place is the second you set yourself up to fail.

We really get under this guy skin, it's brilliant

It's exactly what happened to Arsenal with Arsene Wenger.

The second he stopped aiming for 1st every season, he started going down a road he couldn't turn back from and the standard kept falling and falling and here Arsenal are.
