Ow boy...
It was utter garbage. Literally 7 years of nuance and complex character development undone in season 8 in a rushed "paint by numbers" script. I am genuinely astounded at how they contrived to make this season so poor, it's not like they didn't have the budget.
why is Grey Worm calling the shots on what happens to Jon, when Bran is facking King.
---------------------
Because he has an army of unsullied and Dothraki willing to start another war which nobody wants. Jon had guilt over killing Dany, so being an honourable bloke he was willing to take his punishment to keep peace.
It should have been a lot longer season, or had a few more seasons. I think there's so much more we could have seen in this series. The final episode I thought was good though.

Fair enough, but if he accepts Bran as king then he should also follow the commands of the king. Anyway, fair point.

Agree with this. It needed at least 10 episodes.
The final episode was garbage though. They even did a cut fast forward 5 weeks, which they've never done before. One seen the dragon flies away with Dany, the next seen Tyrion has a massive beard is pulled in front of a council and Jon's been in the slammer for 5 weeks. WTF.
And so much more issues in that final episode.

I thought the season was well done. Particularly given there was no source material. Up until now we all had books so easier to appreciate the story. I felt the season was a little too predictable. And short so felt rushed. Expected more about the children of the forest. the book will contain much more plot. Creator keeping some back to help book sales I think. Wrapped up most loose ends in 6 episodes. Impressive tbf
We binged watched season 1-7 prior to season 8 going live. We didnt wait 8 years for the final. Yet we still feel miffed about season 8. And no one around me talks about GoT anymore, when it used to be the talk for 8 years. This is how much damage season 8 did.
Can you imagine how people feel watching it for 8 years, instead of 8 weeks, and getting served that tripe of season 8.

So glad they ended it.
The last season was an unmitigated disaster. It's impacted on the re-watch value of the show as well as the previous 7 seasons were essentially build up to this point.
Rushed, lazy and just generally poorly written.
