Honestly think (and I'm sure I'm not the first to say this) but you both signed the wrong one.
Lukaku seems much better suited to Chelsea, and Morata to United.
Not that I'm particularly annoyed things played out the way they did, of course...
Morata would have flopped at United too.
Lukaku could have done better at Chelsea.

They've both disappointed since their respective moves but it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Lukaku had come back to Chelsea and Morata gone to Utd.
Personally I don't think that Morata is suited to the PL regardless of which club he played for. Lukaku was never a Utd player though and he probably would have had more joy coming back to Chelsea. Certainly couldn't have been worse than what we have at the moment. (Tammy Abraham excluded of course).

No thanks. We already have one striker from Belgium on our books who's totally useless unless he's shooting from point blank range.

I'd rather have Bats over either Higuain or Giroud for next season.
Higuain hasn't come close to what was expected of him and Giroud has only scored 2 goals in the PL this season.
I'd rather have Falcao back than Batshauyi.
A absolute complete car crash of a footballer.
Harsh. He definitely has some deficiencies but I don't see a car crash. And notwithstanding his time at Valencia he scores goals wherever he goes.
He's just scored 5 goals for Palace in 11 games this season despite not being a starter which is way better than what Giroud has been able to muster in the PL this season.
I posted an article at the time but rumours in Spain were that both managers wanted the other player - Mourinho wanted Morata but the player wanted to work under Conte again; Conte wanted Lukaku but he fancied the move to Utd.
So both managers ended up with their second choice. Not sure about Lukaku and Jose but it could be argued Conte never really seemed to trust Morata.
Lukaku would've had benefits for us... (1) counts as a homegrown player which to us is a BIG deal, we might not have felt the need to waste money on Barkley or Drinkwater if we'd got him in, (2) due to his affinity with Chelsea, fans would've given him the misinterpreted "leader" treatment like he have with Luiz. But ultimately you couldn't imagine him being anything but a disappoint for us due to circumstances out of his control.
Consider the backdrop of it, he'd have been brought in to replace Costa having a likeness to Drogba since a teenager. Unless he sorted out his flat track bully mentality he'd of been doomed to fail. In hindsight probably would've been better than Morata/Giroud/Higuain, etc... but our standards wouldn't have been lowered to see that.
Morata's an interesting one. Stylistically might've performed better for United as Mourinho wouldn't have limited him to playing as a target man (as Conte did), but you look at Jose's man management style and have to conclude Morata would've become even more broken overtime playing there.
Basically the right answer was secret option #3.... Lacazette

Superb every time he's played against half decent opponents we've been ridiculously easy to play against.
He can't link the play and his movement is ametuer meaning defenders can stay in position and make it harder for the other players to muster up openings, as poor as our other options are atleast they do the tactical basics that drags defenders and creates space for our other players.
Stick him 1 on 1 with a keeper and he will tuck It away I'll give him that, but he has to be super clinical because not that many chances come his way due to his rubbish tactical sense and non existent link up game.
Was the Lukaku /Morata debate that big a thing?
All I can really remember was us trying to warn United fans he wasn't very good and them trying to convince themselves we were saying it out or jealousy.
Lukaku, Morata, Giroud, Batshuayi, Higuain - not one of them is good enough for a top 6 team. Higuain used to be, before eating all those pies. The jury is still out on Abraham - as he's still young so he has potential.

Haha. Definitely elements of that, with Matic aswell
