He would be 29 in january and most players decline after their 30s.
A very good deal for Chelsea.

He’ll be 30 on Jan 2021. That’s not the point, he’ll be good to play well in his early 30s, probably another 5 years at the top level ?

Disappointed to lose him even though the fee seems reasonable at this stage. The big issue here is that we are losing our best player and not being able to buy a an adequate replacement or strengthen this side until next summer.

Yep great bit of business and hope it works out for him.
Cortois thought the grass was greener!

Maybe a good deal of business but he will not be replaced easily I reckon

Sometimes, singlehandedly won games for Chelsea

Unless Chelsea get Neymar, Ronaldo or even Messi, I can't see Chelsea replaging him with anyone decent for the £115mill they are supposedly getting for him

Maybe Coutinho but the comparison is laughable

Is there an adequate replacement for Hazard in the world right now?

Could already be at the club in CHO if he can reach his potential

No there isn't but as a team we've become horribly reliant on one player which is never a good thing. Hopefully going forward we can create a much better team ethic which has undoubtedly been lacking.

It's a shame that Hudson-Odoi is injured for a while as this would have been a golden opportunity to stick him straight into the side next season. Hopefully he'll be back sooner than expected.

At least you got Pulisic in early with this in mind, but he’s not in Hazards class.
-----------------------------------
Hardly anyone is but presumably you've seen a lot of Pulisic then ? At only 20 years of age Pulisic can learn and improve considerably so I'd rather watch him for a season in the PL before passing judgement.

Not this season that’s for sure. Off course Neymar or Mbappe are more than adequate, but that’s out of the equation. Probably more of a hope than being realistic that one day either Pusilic or even CHO can adequately replace him in not a distant future.

Sancho is the one that comes to mind in terms of getting a player that could have Hazards level of impact like when we signed him in 2012

Not feasible I'd imagine. Probably staying at Dortmund and then will go to whoever can afford stupid Neymar like money eventually

do we take a punt on Gareth Bale for a season....?

going to be spare at Real...isn't he

Bale's become a bit of a white elephant. Real don't really want him anymore and nobody else can really afford his wages. I'd stay well clear personally, even if we could buy players this summer.

I know mate...just punting it

Yeah if he was willing to reduce his astronomical wage demands then he'd be probably a good signing for any PL team. Can see him staying at Madrid even if he hardly plays though.

Yeah...he said either pay me off or play me...or i'll just go & play golf

I think Real would be mad to pay that for Hazard.

Great player but in his late 20s. Has a pretty similar style to Sanchez and you saw what’s happened there.

For a squad that needs an overhaul blowing a huge chunk of your budget on Hazard may be a mistake.

I was excited at the prospect of being able to really use our youth players - until both CHO and RLC were injured. I think we'll have a tough year now, even though Pulisic will be a good addition. Not sure how long CHO will be out, but looks like RLC won't be fit again until the end of this year at the earliest.

We'll be able to reinvest that £115M eventually of course - just not until next year it looks like. Oh well. We seem to be a bit of a yoyo team right now - bouncing up to the top (or 3rd this year) and down to anywhere between 6th and 10th. Looks like next year could be a down year. But I am optimistic that we have the basis of a good young squad, with Keppa, Rudiger, James, Kante, RLC, CHO, Pulisic. We still have a number of holes to fill, but let's see what develops next year. Exciting times.
