Straight off the bat The Thing and The Fly are better films than the originals.

Pearl Jams - masters of war.

Vedders voice is made for it much more than Dylans.

Definitely Hurt by Johnny Cash, it was like the song was written for him.

Moodswings/Chrissie Hynde cover of Donna Summer's "State of Independence"

I don’t think it is a cover, but I’ve heard Mott the Hoople’s version (my mind’s telling me it’s the original) and Bowie’s version of All the Young Dudes.

And even though I know Bowie wrote it (not 100% sure who sung it first) I like Mott the Hoople’s version better.

Seems like a few of Dylan's songs have been better as covers. I prefer Guns N' Roses version of Knocking on Heaven's Door and Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower.

Bowie's live version at the Hammersmith Odeon is the best version IMO

Sherriff does that have anything to do with Rene Russo getting her boo bees out or is the film actually better?

Oh and would the Daniel Craig version of Casino Royale count as a remake? I’ve heard there was a David Niven version – I’ve only seen in the Guns of Navarone so I couldn’t say for sure

Item one...definitely - but I love the whole film

Casino Royale original was a spoof and Craigs 2006 Bond ( still the best one) could not be called a remake
