He's the heartbeat to our team. A huge loss. Let's not pretend otherwise. No coincidence that in the last 6 months when he's been off the boil, so have we.
No coincidence that in the last 6 months when he's been off the boil, so have we.

This is my point though. Of course there's no denying how important having a quality creative midfielder is, and how good Eriksen is at playing that role either as number 10 or deeper. However, he is not irrepaceable in the same way that Modric was. He hasn't stepped up and run the show in big games really. Look at Modric vs Spain in Euro 2012. Incredible.
I'm not trying to downplay how good he is or anything, but as long as he's properly replaced and the play style is adapted accordingly we'll be fine. IMO.
I was hoping he was going to be able to shake-off the recent apathy in his play for the final as one last hurrah with a MOTM performance and let us see one last time what a quality player he was. Alas wasn't to be.
I like Eriksen, but five or six years at the club and he is part of a team that has delivered nothing. Big changes are needed and a complete revamp of the side is on the cards. Nothing last forever. Sentiment cannot be allowed to overrule what is needed to get trophies into the club. Spurs are now the only one of the big six clubs that is not winning trophies, so whatever needs doing, needs doing. Pretty obvious we cannot go on like we are. Promising all the time, but never delivering.
The old rumor was that Eriksen wanted the same salary deal that Kane was getting - that's about a year old now.
And Levy didn't want to pay. But Levy was dealing with the Stadium problems at that time.
Now things are different.
Levy has cash.
And Eriksen doesn't have a hard offer as yet.
However, he's 27 and obviously needs to look to the next 3 years.
He has had a dip in form of late, but its Pochettino's call as to whether that seems to be permanent or not.
If Levy goes trading for top class replacements, Lo Celso has been mentioned as a replacement for Dembele, he will have to pay similar to what Eriksen is asking.
So...maybe keeping Eriksen is in the works?

Yes but there are different types of trophies aren't there?
For example anybody who thinks winning the League Cup or FA Cup is superior to getting to a cl final needs to find a new hobby. I'm still livid and bemused that having worked so hard to get there and with the whole world watching we played so badly and with so little fight. It was the complete opposite of the resilience we'd shown to get so far?
Eriksen like quite a few others has been underwhelming this season and I won't be sorry to see the back of him. At least we won't have to tolerate his corners anymore.
I will also be interested to see what effect Mouras treatment will have on the team? I would be outraged on his behalf if I was in that squad and a few might feel that they would rather get away than play under a manager who does as Kane tells him.

Some one should ask Sandy if he would get rid of Kane too!
Isn't he also part of a team that "has delivered nothing"?
Getting into the final of the CL is not exactly "delivering nothing". True we didn't win it. But then we haven't exactly been out there buying players like VVD. And we did knock out ManCity and Ajax.
This kind of negativity is really stupid.
It is true that Levy has to start buying top class replacements for the players that are clearly going out.
But I'm hoping Eriksen is not one of them.
