A 16 year wait isn’t immediately though is it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then the anger needs to be aimed at Levy more than anyone.
Trophyless next season and we can start to question Ange more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that depends on the circumstances.
Bad luck saw us draw City in this round. An easier draw, we may have made it through and been in a much stronger position with the 4 or 5 players back from internationals/injuries. and could compete with anyone . A bit of bad luck and bad timing!
Next season we should have more of a squad to compete, but luck always plays a huge part in cups and one off games.
We can insist we compete. We cannot insist we win. Football doesn't work like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The more chances a manager gets and the longer he's here for the more you can question him on it, especially as you say, we should have a more settled squad. Our team has already shown how good it can be this season. When everyone is fit it's one of the strongest first team line ups in the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For sure. But if we draw City at any point, we can hope for a win, we could have strong hopes if we have a full squad, but ultimately people have to accept that we are competing vs one of the best teams of all time. They could win the league 6 out of 7 years, 4 on the trot this season. Some will scream from their armchairs that this is excuses. They know little about football.
I cannot accept going out to weaker teams or failing to turn up like we did vs Boro & Sheff Utd (Championship) in recent years, like we did vs Utd under Poch in the FA SF, Pompey in the SF under Redknapp, losing to Gent in the Europa.
We have been in a lot of great positions over the years and taken so few of the opportunities we have had.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even against the stronger teams, as a supposedly stronger team ourselves we should be able to beat them, all the more so when we have home advantage. But our record is terrible. I mean Arsenal under Arteta in his first season managed to beat both City and Chelsea to win the FA Cup in his first season and they finished below us.
I hope Ange has learned his lesson from the League Cup after this season, although Sanchez was partly responsible for going out of that and we've got rid of him thankfully. The LC is really the one where you can often get to the final without playing one of the big teams, sometimes including the final.

Whatever the reasons, this is one of the longest periods in our modern history without a trophy. It’s not acceptable for a club like spurs to go so long without silverware and those who make key decisions at the club have failed time and time again to get it right.
That’s why fans can be so emotional at spurs. They are desperate for success. I couldn’t care less about top four. It doesn’t bring better players. Better players come when they get paid appropriately. Spurs need success. That’s what will make the brand global. Not just in the finance department. After the largest resentment against him since he took over at spurs, I hope the penny has dropped with Daniel levy now.

I mean the last game where you could say we were still in a proper injury crisis was West Ham. Since then we’ve got some players back, although lost a few others to international duty. And since then we’ve beat Newcastle, Forest, Everton, Bournemouth, Burnley and Brentford, drawn away at Man U and Everton. The only defeats have been Brighton (league) and City (cup).
So 20 points from 9 league games, over 2 points per game.
What more do you fecking want, us to win every single game? Stop being a baby just because City knocked us out of the cup and Everton got a late equaliser.

Do you think the additional £60m revenue that UCL brings will enable us to pay players appropriately?
As sad as it is, the UCL is a key stage to us being able to compete with the successful teams in this league! End of, it's a necessary evil and while we could win a Carabao Cup like Chelsea could this month, it will prove absolutely nothing in the long run.
We have failed in the past, when we have been one of the best 3 or 4 teams in the league to take advantage....and that in itself shows that it is not purely about quality that has prevented us winning. You don't get 2nd or 3rd or 4th by being a crap team.
We need to challenge more often, put ourselves in positions to win. We have not done this enough in the past. If we are there, in the mix towards the end, we can win it. For me its been as much a mentality thing as it is a quality thing. The longer it goes on the harder it is to break away from it.
I feel like Ange has a very different attitude.
Poch, while an inspiration had no winning record. While Jose & Conte did, their methods just didnt suit us as a team or a club.
Ange does not put a ceiling on where we can go, without necessarily putting any pressure on us either.
I think if we find ourselves in a 'clutch' position to win stuff then I feel as if this group are in a very different headspace and stand a better chance of achieving success. Time will tell, it just feels different. Obvs both cup games this season cam at bad times either in our state of progress and our absentees.
Excited to see the rest of this season but also to see how far we can go.
I do back Ange, and I'm royally entertained by the football.
I will say though that this is now a squad which should be challenging for the title next season.
If he isn't then no problem with taking another look at things then (or even half way through next season).

In a weird way I take more pleasure in Chelsea & WHU suffering. What do you think about Lucas Bergvall's move to Tottenham?
– I'm happy for him. He's an incredibly nice guy. I hope he gets everything he wants. It will be fun to catch up next time we meet with the national team.
Are you surprised that he didn't choose Barcelona?
– I don't have enough details. It's hard to know what Barcelona have said or offered. I think it seems okay, it's his choice. He knows what felt best and where he will thrive.
So, we'll get to see Swedish trio Dejan Kulusevski, Bergvall, and Bardghji at Tottenham in the future...?
The 18-year-old laughs as we stand outside the dressing rooms inside the Algarve Stadium. Then he says:
