ETH and Rangnick would be almost a best case scenario. There'd have to be a catch somewhere along the line.

The reports I've just read, despite a lot of the dutch press saying he's defo staying at Ajax, say that it's Ten Hag OR Rangnick, not both in manager and DOF role. Seems weird to me. Ralf hasn't managed a side in a while. Can't see Levy going for that.

posted on 24/5/21

I'm intrigued by the Rangnick as DoF chat and confess I know little about him other than reading a few articles - has he held a DoF position before?

I'd have thought that if he were coming in then you'd want to pair him with a manager who holds his tactical/team building philosophy in order to avoid instant tension. Also do we know what his player recruitment is like?

I know very little about either we definitely need a gaffer with a talent for setting teams up and also coaching not only systems but probably most off a proven record of improving players via coaching as I fear we won't be spending loads of dollar.

Oh and one that can persuade HK10 and bale to stay....so not too much to ask.🤣

Some figures at #thfc are now seriously suggesting re-appointing Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine is having a hard time at Paris Saint-Germain and he may be open to returning to Spurs. | @IndySport

I love Poch but having him back so soon makes no sense.

I think we would be very lucky to get poch back but there is no way he is coming back without a promise of funds (like he wanted for the rebuild)

I also think if we any chance of retaining Kane it would be to get poch back

I just can't see this as a good idea. My heart wants it because under Poch I connected with the team more than at any other time, but my head says no because:

1. Going backwards sends a bad message generally
2. Levy would have to admit he was majorly wrong (though might make for a nice soul searching PR story)
3. We'd need to spend a lot of money on a new squad for him
4. I'm not sure Poch would want to come back as it would look like failure for him.
5. Poch is clearly going to Madrid

Levy finally realising what an absolute blunder it was to sack him perhaps?

Only makes sense if we move on most of the players that was around for him the first time.

Kane will want to go regardless. Spurs are not in the CL and if Poch couldn't get us a trophy before when we were great, why would Kane think this is possible now?

I reckon 300k worth of reasons could persuade him mate

I just have a sneaky feeling Kane will stay .....he can become an utter legend for Tottenham and be spoke about for decades to come .....something i hope he realises soon!

Or go to city and win a prem league or 2 but just be a member of an already incredible squad

posted on 24/5/21

It's 50/50 between him going to city and staying with us imo

Don't think anyone else is even in the conversation

The only reason he'd stay is because he'd be priced out of a move.

He wants to win trophies and play in the CL. I don't think the money side of it is what motivates him.

posted on 24/5/21

I honestly can't see Kane staying, I think anyone convincing themselves that he will is just setting themselves up for disappointment! He's given spurs so much but without any tangible success to show for it (other than individual accolades). He's very clearly a highly motivated person and wants to win things. He's gone, sadly.

The only way he stays if is Levy brings in a top drawer manager (can't think of any) and rebuilds the squad in one summer with proper talent - which isn't going to happen.

He'll go to City, be a massive success and fair play to him.

posted on 24/5/21

I don't think any of that is relevant to whether or not Kane will stay - it's not up to him.

The only question is will city pay whatever levy is asking for

Don’t think I’d want this, it wouldn’t be the same and I’m not really a believer in going back, Poch was obviously quite unhappy in his last six months at the club, would prefer the club to keep moving forward.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You never know Ace we may get back the poch we originally had

He has gone away realised the grass isn’t always greener and he was into a good thing with us

Part of me thinks he was so unhappy at the end as he wanted to go somewhere else , which he maybe now thinks was a big mistake

I’m torn on it being honest

Has the club decided carter Vickers isn't ever going to cut it.....it's hard to believe he's any worse than dier or Sanchez.

This is the transfer window and this is Tottenham Hotspur so there is always likely to be an unexpected bid that gives the club pause over whether a deal would be beneficial despite the popularity of the player.

That player could well be Lucas Moura if a bid comes in for the Brazilian, who turns 29 this summer.

football.london understands that Spurs have turned down big money advances for the attacking midfielder in the past and should another attractive offer come in this summer it might prove tempting to help the club bring in a key starter.
