Not sure he will be keen to play back up when other clubs will give him a start. Every striker know's at Spurs Kane plays no matter what.
I agree that this sort of signing should be looked at.
I understand that Kane will always start when he's available but look how important someone like Llorente has been to us in his absence, especially in the CL.
Without a like for like back up for Kane, i.e. Llorente, when Kane is out, we no longer have a plan B. It's pretty much guaranteed to be Son/Moura up front, so teams can effectively plan for that without having to worry about us throwing a curveball.
Having a Rondon would:
- Allow us to rest Kane more efficiently
- Give us a plan B with/without Kane
Llorente has made 65 appearances over two seasons and that's with him being a striker considerably less talented right now than Kane.
Although he's done a great job as back up, there are plenty of players that will be an upgrade. They will have the opportunity to play more than enough games over the course of the season.
we need to stop looking at it as a 'back up option' and start looking at a ready made first team striker to push / compete with Kane..
Kane spends large parts of every season injured... and we are in 4 competitions so there would be plenty of football for both to play.

Large parts is harsh. Before last season he only had one injury a season which kept him about for about six weeks at a time. He's never made less than forty appearances in a season.

you may be right....... but in 6 weeks there are enough points at stake to make or break your season... so we need to have a better option. Son has done well in that role... but if he were also out then there is a problem
