great article mate. ignore the idiot above, he clearly cant be bothered watching the video again. but like you said, it does bring back memories for anyone who played football at a young age or who managed a young team. infact, its dejavu for me.

i joined my local team as a 9 year old, here in the oxford mail boys league. we were not the best team in the world and ended up getting relegated twice in a row. infact, in the third season we were rock bottom of the lowest league i used to cry after every game but the manager used to tell me that its the taking part which counts, not the winning. he really was a top bloke. this teams manager kinda reminds of him, teh only difference being that my manager was a northen lad while this dudes a spaniard.

anyway we use to lose games 4nil, 5nil, 6nil week in week out but we kept on going. this isnt one of those inspirational stories. we were just normal kids, best friends, playing together. after a while we actually came good. we were brilliant as a team and everyone knew that we had no best players. we were all on the same level. the way this manager optimises team work and having fun was exactly the ethos of our club. god this has brought back so many memories

i'm not gonna lie but that goalie looks exactly like i did back in the day. a tad chubby and not very athletic lol.

El Capitan - from Mexico with love

I know thanks mate , brings back memmories for me too. Played for a newly formed team a couple years ago at under 16 level. We were beaten regulary 5,6,..... -0 and once lost 14-1. This led to our confidence and our team morale deteriorated. We finally won our first game towards the end of the season 5-3 although I scored an on goal :p off my shin into the bottom corner trying to stop a cross.
However due to our poor team spirit , confidence and 0% hope to improve we folded as a team. two years later we set up another team under the same name and mostly same players who this time had a point to prove. This was a youth league so 18+ and thus tougher , bigger and stronger opposition.
We started well with a draw 2-2 scoring a header myself as a Cb. For that one game we had over 16 players attend. Sadly our second game resulted in a 9-1 loss and this caused heads to drop. We were back to our old selfs complaining , blaming each and other and inevitably once again the team broke apart.
To this day I regret not contributing to maintaining a better team morale.
I now coach the under 10's for the very club that I played for and folded many times. After a slow start we have improved and are now one of the better teams in the league.
