Getting rid of Kolasinic would bring in funds and free up big wages, so in Arsenal’s current position it would make sense to get rid and rely on Monreal as back up for a season. Have Arsenal got any promising left backs in the academy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't really say we have a ton of U23 options coming through at left back. Only one I can think of is Bola, and I can't really remember him making any of our Europa League squads.
I'm much more hopeful in the attacking roles.
As for Kolasinac, it would be a massive loss if he left. Pacy, strong, and the only senior player we have who can actually play out wide.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kolasinac at full speed has decent pace, but his turn of pace is actually really slow. Looks flat-footed when anyone runs at him. He's our easiest defender to dribble by far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't count him as a defensive player tbh. I've always preferred having him bomb forward and stretch the opposition back line.
Our side is full of technical one-footed players who will always prefer to cut inside. Kolasinac is probably the closest thing we have to a winger, despite his shortcomings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even as a LWB his most important ability should be to defend - which he’s shown he can’t do - whilst going forward he has zero variety to his game.
For the money we’re paying him, we should expect much more than he offers. Unfortunately for us, same will be said by any other club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The reason we pay him so much, is because we successfully tapped him up and convinced him to run down his contract to force a move.
It all boils down to moving cash around a ledger for Arsenal. All of it will even out over the duration of a contract(s).Can't blame him for what he earns.
I wanted a LB and more important a RB. Dont think all our wishes come true.
Lots of outlets have commented on his big wages. Free transfers usually work out like that.

yeah let's sell a 26 year old defender and trust a 22 year old nobody and a 34 year old injury prone Monreal instead.
But that’s because you didn’t sell at the right time, and in the case of Mkhi signed a dud.
From what I gather Kolasinac is earning the sort of wages the very best full backs in the world are earning but he’s far from that.
Which presents a problem when trying to offload him I suppose.

That we signed Mhiki is a special case. We wouldnt have bought him if we havent sold Sanchez. Why people argue about that all the time is a mystery to me.
Dont know what you read but it is all speculation. Surely he gets more at Arsenal because he was a free signing. Don't know and dont care what other so called world class FB's earn.
I don’t really understand your point. I said you didn’t sell at the right time, which was the case with Sanchez, which is why you ended up with Mkhi.
Well if you don’t care that he’s being paid parity with the world’s best, given Arsenal’s financial position, and being nowhere near one of them then that’s your prerogative. But this is the discussion I’ve been having with others.

Yeah thinks like that happens. Our bad luck was that Sanchez and Özil's contract ended at the same time. Wenger thought he couldnt sell both at the same time. He ended up with losing Sanchez and gave Özil a contract of annuity. That is what hurts regarding our wage bill.
Kolasinac and his wage really isnt our main concern.

An extra £50k per week in wages comes to £2.6m a year. £13m if you stretch it out over a 5 year contract.

Gillespie, I get that but the point stands that he’s one of the highest paid fullbacks in football but is far from one of the best fullbacks in football.
And given Arsenal’s wage bill is stretched, it makes sense to get rid of him if possible. The if possible is the problem, however, as it’s unlikely he’ll take a wage cut and who is going to pay him parity with the world’s best?
Mustafi, Xhaka, Ozil and Mkhi are all in similar situations it seems. Arsenal have really facked themselves over handing out contracts to these players.
