Do you think Maguire will be sold?
I don't think either City or United will buy him.

Think that rumour has been put firmly to bed mate.
And the club have said quite categorically he’s not for sale.
So I reckon a fee north of £15m should do it
Just the usual tripe. Yesterday there were two stories about Maguire being sold to City (for £80M with a £280k/week salary - Express) and Man U being confident in acquiring him, making an opening offer of £40M (Metro - change in tack by Woodward in trying to put low bids in rather than paying over the odds).
The City story being slightly more believable I suppose, although I find it difficult to understand how Pep thinks Harry is worth more than VVD!
Maybe we'll get some more info on tonight's moan in?
I do not understand the hype.....? I think Evens has proved to be more reliable. Man City love to play from the back and he can do that! $hit, no one goes near him when he does!
Personally I do not see the improvement and feel he has gone backwards! 80 mil is a joke, so sell him!
Maguire is quality and I would be sad to see him go.
I'm not jumping on this band wagon that he's suddenly crap because he might leave.
If he does go, we need to get the possible price for him because he will be difficult to replace.
Reckon he would be an ideal replacement for Kompany and a future captain here or at Man City.
We should really try and keep all our best players but we have to accept that players' heads will be turned if the big clubs come calling.
It’s not a bandwagon we are jumping on - a few of us having been saying that Maguire is suspect for months now. He’s got no pace, limited awareness of what’s behind him and frequently loses the ball when he’s on a Bobby Moore run past the halfway line
That’s not to say he isn’t a good player, he is, but for £80m I’d drive him over to Manchester and pack his bags for him.
If they offer 80m he will certainly be allowed to talk,
He needs to improve and pep will break him down in sections,
Sort out the back line and set pieces
No dancing with the ball,
Then next season he'll probably work on his playing out skills
To be be consistent and cope with champions league,
Maguire will have to go back to basics and learn his positioning as well as other players learning when to cover him,,
I'm sure pep will have a master plan and if he's got it in him,
Top international defender pep will find it,
City is probably the only club I'd go to at the minute,
Not ready for Madrid
Man utd would destroy him at the minute as I don't think he's ready to command a back line
He should defiantly choose Man City out of the 2 for obvious reasons, but the big plus must be working with Pep, he has a good reputation of improving players.
Man utd would destroy him at the minute as I don't think he's ready to command a back line.

I agree. We need a leader who is a top class CB right now. Maguire isn't that. He could be. But if he comes to us, he won't, at least not at this moment in time. It's why I think he isn't out target.
All gone very quiet on Tielemens.
^
If anything I'd say that's a good thing.
As for Maguire, still only talk as far as I see. It took Man City ages to stump up less money for Mahrez just a year ago so it would be a change in their procedures to see them offer £80m for Maguire in this window. More likely both they and Man Utd will push at us and try to get Maguire hanging around in airports on deadline day.
^ wouldn’t surprise me if neither stump up the cash and we have him for another year similar to Mahrez.
Liverpool stopped messing around when they got Allison and VVD as they knew those two positions were the missing pieces. Depends if Utd and Man City feel the same but I doubt it.
Anyway, do we really need any new signings after seeing how our England under 21s performed at the World Cup?....

I thought we were not mentioning that 😲
I just want the £80m guys to be honest.....
^ be careful what you wish for BS. Whilst I agree that £80m is a ridiculous fee for a player who is yet to show the defensive capability needed for the top level, losing a player can sometimes disrupt the balance of the squad.
For example, will Tielemans see lesser ambition and shoes not to come? Will Maddison decide he will take a punt at Man Utd and Pereira move back to a champions league team?
Even then, can we re-invest that cash wisely or so we end up with a Slimani, Musa and Ghezzal?
So I’m with you in that £80m would be amazing transfer business, but only if we reinvest well. As Dunge suggested, a rebuilding job under Ruskin, Congerton and Rodgers has been mooted as dangerous. So let’s keep building steadily if we can!!
That said, I still think we should sell at £80m so I don’t know what my point is really!
Some interesting points Mersey. Of our better players Harry is probably the easiest to replace and £80M is a ridiculous fee for someone who is nowhere near the level of VVD (defensively at least), so there is certainly temptation there.
On the other hand keeping him would send out a strong statement of intent and he fits fine in our back line as a more attacking foil to the very defensively competent Evans.
BS - what about Mersey's point, if we had £80M to spend do you have much confidence it would be re-invested wisely given our track record with big money purchases?
BS - Certainly he's not worth that. What's starting to concern me a bit is our other CB options.
Evans is rather injury-prone, including during matches.
Morgan is hardly the future.
Soyuncu is liked by some but doesn't convince me greatly and there are rumours linking him to a move back to Turkey.
Benkovic seems to be made of glass.
If we were to sell Maguire, I think we would need to buy. Although maybe it could wait until January.

" will Tielemans see lesser ambition and shoes not to come? "
I know that the present-day footwear is a lot more lightweight than when I were a lad but shoes? Surely not
Benkovic is the new Maldini, but he’s made of crisps and sellotape. The fact that’s Soyuncu is being linked away to me suggests that we’d replace Maguire if he left and there would be Evans, Morgan, Maguire/New Maguire and Benkovic vying for the 2 spaces.

Not interested in the new Adidas Copa Brogues or Nike Mercurial-Loafer.
Frank Lampard will clearly have all his players in a personalised Chelsea Boot.
Derby’s Derbies the clear choice for The Rams.
It’s a tough question to answer guys. Our track record with big money signing since the title win has been hopeless. I’m not saying it’s all down to Walsh leaving but at least he seemed to have the final say (or joint final say) and seemed to be able to vet the scouted players more effectively.
With Congerton now at the helm we could be guilty of making more expensive mistakes. If it’s a toss up between £80m badly spent and keeping Maguire then yes I’d definitely keep Maguire
However a poor track record in recruitment if not addressed will be our undoing eventually one way or the other
I’ve heard we’ve incoming of James Justin from Luton, full back can play either side, only young so probably just a back up for now.
Interesting signing. Probably means that:
A) He's going to be brought on longer term because we don't believe Fuchs and Chilwell will be here long term;
B) Amartey's likely stuffed.
