Judging by all the 5hit that Jody and Frank’s mates and missus have been posting on social media recently they are partners for life. No chance of one without the other I’m afraid.

Besides Jody’s blood runs blue too.

The social media stuff has left a bad taste for me personally. Taking the Pii55 and totally disrespectful.

I saw some of that Baz and think the same.

If Jody had any sense he'd be knocking on Mel's door asking for the job because if it goes pair shaped at Chelsea, which is certainly possible, then Jody is nothing more that a failed number two and he'll be back managing the under 18's.

Darren Wassell?

Yes, I mentioned Wassall earlier elsewhere. A genuine contender I'm sure but not for me

He was a George Thorne broken leg away from getting the permanent job.
Know's the youth. I'd be ok with if he got it.

I appreciate it’s the Daily Star but I couldn’t have put it better regarding how FL has ‘handled’ this

Darren Wassall not really in the same league as Lampard, let's be honest.

Yet it was the Mirror (amongst others) that has been spouting Lampards appointment as a foregone conclusion for the last 3 weeks.

I'm bored of it all now, football in general, this whole episode has made me completely fed up with the game. Every season we get a new manager. What really rankles about this is that, with Frank, I really thought we had found someone for the relative long haul. I knew if he was a success then he would go to Chelsea eventually, but I didn't think it would be after his first and only reasonably good season in management. I thought he would improve year on year, take us up, establish us in the Prem and then would have earned the credentials to be considered for one of the biggest club jobs in the game. He can do one now for me. He could have become a legend at this club, now he's just going to be mentioned with the same esteem as Gary Rowett.

As far as im concerned, we need Chris Hughton. He ticks all the boxes, including loyalty, I think he spent 5 seasons at Brighton and no doubt would have been there for a sixth were he not fired. The Cowley brothers I would also accept. Anyone else like monk, Keane, Adkins etc and I'm out.

Don't agree with the Star's article. Everyone knew that if Frank had any kind of success at Derby then he would be off to Chelsea. It has just happened sooner than expected. Would anyone turn down the chance of quadrupling their wages to go to their dream job?

A few odds for you - it doesn't look like the bookies are particularly in the know at this stage. There are some pretty uninspiring names on the list, IMHO. I'd be happy with Cowley or Hughton, and I'm one of the few on here who'd be happy with Monk (slightly better win rate at Leeds & Boro than Frank achieved with us). For those with more money than sense, you can also get 100/ on Mourinho 😉

Cowley 3/1
Big Dave 6/1
Hughton 9/1
Michael Carrick 10/1
Karanka (!) 12/1
Monk 12/1
Pulis 12/1
Gerrard 16/1
Alex Neil 16/1
Daniel Stendel 16/1
John Terry 16/1
Paul Warne 16/1

What about Cole? Don't think he has the qualifications (but could work on them) but maybe there was more to his "might see you again" than first appeared.

Spart, yes, that's obvious, but as I've said a couple of times, he hasn't had any success yet, he's had a decent first season in management, that's all. He's literally only being considered because of what he achieved for them as a player, which is all well and good but as a manager he's still a baby and has achieved nothing. As I said, I fully expected him to go to Chelsea eventually once he had proven he has what it takes, I just expected it to take a few more seasons with him filling in all the caveats in my above post.

I'd chose Michael Carrick from that list. He is a young coach and I think he would be a good replacement for Lampard. If he does well in the coming season and we get into the playoffs he will probably move to his dream job at the second club in Manchester.
